I purchased this during one of the recent sales on psn, will pick it up after a while though since I just wrapped up ff16. BTW, is this the final in the ff7 story or there’s gonna be a sequel to this ?

Competed the game today. Finished the main quest, side quests, all the monster hunts and even completed that Clive’s display setup. Took me around 68 hours. The story/plot and setting gets full marks - 10/10. Perhaps the best story I’ve seen in a video game so far. It’s rich enough to be an actual novel. Gameplay and the world itself is pretty dull though. The gameplay and the rpg progression system is way too simple, especially the whole equipment upgrade /crafting system is pretty basic. You get all these rewards for defeating monsters and all these side quests, but aside from buying some music I found there’s little to no use for Gil and most resources were unused. I got the best weapon and gear crafted and still had a ton of resources left. The level progression is pretty basic as well with points unlocking different moves for each eikon and some upgrades but that’s it. I had quite a lot of unused points left towards the end as well. Overall I felt it’s mostly an action game and not really an rpg. I found gameplay to be mostly just executing one eikon ability after another and you don’t control any of your party members and they keep adding/dropping out based on the quest progression. The world is mostly like a wall paper in the background for Clive to run thru his quests and most npcs have no ai in them whatsoever. i felt the devs used all their budget to craft a beautiful world and story and added the gameplay with whatever was left. Ff7 is leagues ahead overall as a “game” but if I want to just experience the story/world/lore with basic gameplay then this is like the best game I’ve played !!

Sounds like the judgement series, day/ night cycle was controlled by main quest progression in that game. If you miss a side quest that only opens in day time you had to wait until the next main quest that moves back the cycle to day.

Same here, some of the best games I’ve played in these past years have been from gamepass/ps extra, for ex: judgement/lost judgement/like a dragon/y0/lis:true colours/medium and many more. I would’ve never purchased these on my own, but loved them to bits thanks to ps extra/gamepass ! -

Ps360 era was different, now most first party games on either console are on pc eventually and almost all Xbox games release day one on pc too. Console exclusivity is not really that much of a problem as it used to be ! -

Ppl who are pining for demise of Xbox dont completely grasp the pains of monopoly. In ps2 gen, Sony literally charged for memory cards, even in ps3 gen, they overpriced their console and then had to build a psn/mp to compete with Xbox live. If Xbox/gamepass goes belly up next gen, programs like ps extra/essentials might simply close. With game price touching almost ₹5k now and with no disc drives to play used games, console gaming would be unaffordable for many!! -

Competition is always a good thing to move the industry forward ! look at ps5 pro, with little to no competition that’s what you get. An overpriced console with minor upgrades compared to the base version (relative to the price difference) , it doesn’t even have a disc drive ! -
Completed the single player campaign , I felt it’s one of the best sp campaign I’ve played in cod games until now. Easily tops the first trilogy and even the first black ops (which was my fav so far). The best part is the variety, the game has a good mix of stealth and action and there’s one mission which is completely open. Voice acting is spectacular and the game ran super smooth on my pc (3060ti/5600x/16gb) at 2k. For me, the zombie levels especially stood out in terms of brilliance in level design ! Another feather in the cap for gamepass !!

So it’s like a medieval life sim ?

Bringing back this from hibernation : Finally completed the mistborn trilogy. Good series, ending of the first trilogy was a mixed bag, unexpected alright but I didn’t like it. Rest was good though. World building especially was good and magic system was very unique ! Is the rest of the books on the second arc worth reading ? Also, anyone read wind and truth ? Released recently it’s supposed to be the finale of the first arc of the stormlight archives.

I’m almost at the end I think and got hit by so many side quests all of a sudden. Planning to complete all of them before the final showdown (I’m assuming it’s final based on all the indications the game has thrown at me so far). I’m at level 45 now. While I agree on the scale and setting, the gameplay itself is not as good as ff7: remake. Clive is really op and there’s little to no strategy required except mash one eikon ability after another to take down most enemies. Even the world is mostly static and most npc are pretty dumb like standing at the same place, repeating the same lines over and over. The plot and setting is really awesome though. Feels like reading thru a grrm novel at times with all the lore.

Even the older GTA games has the same mechanic, maybe some tech limitation of the prev gens ? Also the first game was available on egs for free as part of their give away. Have purchased it, question is whether it’s worth playing ? Seems like a slow burn Middle Ages sim game ? Does it have a plot /decent gameplay ?

Also, didn’t know this game has released already, gamepass is really bonkers, so many games releasing on day one with so little time to play. I’m yet to complete the newest cod on topic, saw review and the game is looking good. Both this and stalker seems awesome. Will wait for couple of months for them to release all their patches and then try them ! FP adventure games gives me nausea though, I hope it’s not bad here !

Are you taking a month off from work or something lol ? How do you guys play so many games in such short times ?

I watched this movie called ‘manjummel boys’ recently on Disney hotstar, it was very good. To think it was based on real story gave me the chills

I’ve seen the first season, loved it. It’s based on a book series and se01 kinda ends on a cliffhanger so went ahead ands read the plot of the full series on Wikipedia 😂 can’t wait for season 2 now ! Dark matter is another one of amazing shows on Apple+. Especially for fans of Dark. It’s not as good as dark, but comes close IMO. i can’t believe apple launches all these high quality shows without any fanfare or marketing ! I’m watching shrinking - se02, and loving that too - I found it to be quite a chilled show to watch after a long day at work lol !

FF 16 on ps5. Also playing a bit of cod:bo 6 sp campaign (pc gamepass) and splinter cell blacklist(steam) on pc at times. I’m amazed how well sc: blacklist plays today as well. One of the few games that has aged very well !
-
Installed it today on pc via gamepass, was a breeze. Selected only the campaign. Had to create a activision account and the game restarted some 2-3 times for shader compilation. Overall, I think it took some 10 mins or so that’s it. Running smooth at 2k resolution. Played for around 10-15 mins ando felt like it’s the same old virtua cop style arcade shooter as it was before (long time since I played a cod game i guess ) ex: imaginary grenades spamming all around for no reason 😂 the voice acting/gfx/writing have been top notch so far !
-
Gfx are some of the best even on ps5. Just completed that ifrit fight and man , all those fireworks !! was scared if base ps5 can handle all that visual fidelity…. I think it’s running at 30fps in gfx mode ? I would love to check out this game on pro !

If you put on those 3 rings (evasion/combos/assistance) then it’s just pressing square and pressing qte on time, there’s literally nothing else to the combat apart from upgrading abilities when you level up. Clive is really op and those rings are not some mod or something , they were prompted by the game itself in the beginning ! I’m not sure if the game was difficult before, but I’ve never died even once so far , even against bosses it’s just spamming square ! I’m tempted to try playing the game without those rings, maybe in the next play through ! Outside of combat, the game itself is good though, perhaps the best presentation of story I’ve seen in video games in recent times! Just curious though, is this game some sort of prequel to ff7 remake? There’s so much stuff common like ifrit and chocobo. Or like set on the same universe or something ?

So started this game few days back, the presentation is so top notch, feels like a Hollywood tv show ! But I’m finding the combat too shallow especially compared to the ATB party based combat of ff7. The skill tree looks so shallow as well, does it get better ?

Time is an issue even for me. That’s why I didn’t renew ps extra, wanted to complete few games I purchased and some games from gamepass first. Also, the game maybe short but from what I’ve played, it’s no cakewalk even on normal. Parrying seems like a hit and miss and I haven’t been able to perfect it yet. There’s no levels like regular rpg that makes the character stronger, need to get skills , armour and upgrades from exploration and xp to get strong!

So am I the only one here playing this game ? Anyway, playing this on pc gamepass and it’s surprisingly decent. They’ve borrowed something from a lot of games but I feel it kinda works. There’s active reload from geow, the savepoint + enemy respawn like souls games etc I was about to start Elden ring, but then thought of giving this a shot since it showed just 12 hours if gameplay in gamepass. Also the game setting and the story seems a little intriguing. Let’s see if it manages to stay interesting until the end !

PC - Completed re3: remake and onto this game called flintlock: siege of dawn. It’s more like AA soulslike game, but a bit janky and little bit easier. The premise seems interesting and it’s got a pretty neat traversal system called rift which is pretty awesome ! PS5 - Hogwartz legacy. Man this game is deceptively huge. I’m at level 10 and the game still gives me tutorials on some new unlock! Looks like I’ll be playing this game pretty much this month and the next !
