    Is the cpu that much of a bottleneck? I don't think I can upgrade that anytime soon...Also does it really make a difference if the ram is not in pairs? I have 2 x 4gb sticks right now. Better to buy another 2 x 4 or can I run with just one for now?

    You can use the same license key on 64-bit version as well. Just make sure that you can re-use the key (you may have to uninstall/remove the key first).

     

    So I just have to separately download a 64 bit iso then? I am assuming the the windows setup download link from microsoft will detect my current OS as 32 and will probably reinstall the same thing. I don't recall an option to choose your OS version while reinstalling..

    Is there a way to upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit version of windows 8? Or do I have to buy a whole new license? I had purchased a windows 8 for my older pc, which happened to have a 32 bit proc. I have since upgraded to 64 bit, but haven't bought a new OS. I am asking because I need to add more RAM, and from what I understand, 32 bit does not utilize more than 4gb. (I currently have 2 x 4gb)

    i have a mid 2010 macbook pro 13" that does not boot up. Just got it checked from an apple reseller who asked me to replace it's motherboard that'll cost ~ 15-17k . already got a macbook pro retina last month . Do i have any cheaper workaround than spending 15k ? Alternatively ,how much will it fetch me if i decide to sell it?

     

    Where are you based? In bangalore there are a couple of guys who will do it for lesser (not authorised apple service centers, but they still do a good job).

    I have steam on both pc and imac. Personal experience - I find the imac application to be laggy, no idea why. Everything else runs fine.

     

    Also, AFAIK, you cannot upgrade the graphics card on an iMac - only the ram. Also the base model now does not have a dedicated card. (both macbooks and imacs). So I guess if gaming is one of your main considerations, then mac is probably not the best choice.

    Thanks, I used the mid level shipping, the express international option, arrived in a week. Got an EMS tracking number, and was able to track it from Japan all the way to local indian PO.
