Hey Guys,

Here is my situation.

last time u heard abt my mother that the treatment money was arranged as i had taken loan from my work place and that is true.

The Doctor had asked my mother to take 6 Chemo Therapy injections and the cost of each injection was 8K. Mom was staying in Chennai along with my brother and he was taking her for the chemo therapy treatment. After the 3rd chemo

therapy injection on May 2nd, immediately the next day she developed respiratory problem and could not breathe. Mom was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was undergoing the chemo therapy in a very critical condition. Her

pulse had gone down to 35 in place of 70-80. They somehow managed to bring the pulse back to normal. The Doctor said that if we had delayed bringing her to the Hospital by 10 minutes she would not have survived. We shifted her to Chennai

Meenakshi hospital where proper treatment for the respiratory can be given and she was admitted there for abt 3 days in the ICU and 4th day was shifted to general ward after which she got discharged and i had to spend the remaining

money to clear the Hospital Bill that i had as a loan from my work place. The doctor there told that due to her inhaling some acid in the Lungs which was released due to the chemo therapy this complication had occurred and suggested

tht the dosage to be changed. so i decided to bring her to Bangalore with me so that some body at my house will always be there to take care of her.

We were referred to M S Ramaiah Hospital in Bangalore by that Doctor who was treating my mom in Chennai. Long Story short.

Now 3 injections are remaining and each has been split into 3 injections to reduce the side effects and complication(Each Dose 20MG) which comes to 9 Chemo therapy injections and each injection has to been given each week for 9 weeks. The cost of 1 chemo therapy session now is 10K including the Bed charges and blood Test which has to be done before every chemo therapy session. so far i managed to arrange money for 2 injections by pledging some Gold jewels of mine and am unable to arrange money(70K) for rest of the Treatment and after this my Mom has to undergo Radiation and which will cost 46K. Totally 1,16,000 is required.

I have all the records for the previous treatment taken in Chennai and the Present treatment that's continuing in Bangalore.

PS: I am not expecting any funds from anybody for the treatment as its a huge amount . I Would appreciate if some body refers us to any NGO or any person with whom u might have any connection or contact with who can help us out as i cannot addord the treatment. I was planning to sell my PS3 but that would hardly fetch me around 18-20K and that would not serve the purpose.

cleardot.gif Unfortunately we are unable to provide financial help to out station patients. I would advise you to place appeals in local newspapers and to contact large corporates who have funds for such charitable work. We have raised funds for Mumbai patients in this way.

Why don't you go to TaTa memorial centre in mumbai and fill up a form regarding your issue?

Also take a doctor's reference with you when you go there.

Hey Kartik,

Sorry to hear about your mom. I spoke to my parents (they're doctors) about NGOs etc and they said that there are many NGOs to help cancer patients and while they mostly cater to those below the poverty line, if you narrate your story like you've done here and in your earlier thread, you shouldn't have any trouble getting someone to bear the expenses. My sister's friend works for an international NGO that does such work here in Mumbai. I'll try and get in touch with her to see if anything like this is possible in Bangalore/Chennai

peace

Thanks for the info Kartik, but the problem is that she cannot be shifting from one hospital to the other as the Hospitals dont allow this. And in the situation that i am in i can't afford to take Mom to Mumbai from Bangalore and stay there until the treatment is done as the treatment will take abt 2.1/2 moths to complete. :good:

i will try a bit from my end, when i come back to india, but cant guarantee anything, i am not in touch with most of the guys, but i'll try my best.

Thanks bro. will hope for the best.

Wish my moms treatment could also be done with tablets, but as my Moms situation was "that the cancer was in the Advanced stage( beginning of 3rd stage) and only surgery, chemo therapy and Radiation are the only option.

I wish i could as i am already neck deep in loans and traveling to Mumbai is not feasible at the moment as the treatment will take abt 2 1/2 months to complete. I will have to quit my current job and that will increase my burden. Thanks for the suggestion.

@Scorpio,Something good will come out...with godspeed, sam and others trying...

God bless you and your mother.

yes Bro, i am positive that something good will happen soon.

thanks

im thinking getting actual help from an NGO or a hospital by filling forms etc. mite take more time than u have to waste. and we can't have ur mnother missing her timely injections. i'm really sorry if i offend u in any way by saying this but we here can start a collection which can b transferred to u sooner than any NGO. might be enough for 3-4 weeks atleast.

ppl..? am i being out of line here..?

Yeah i was thinking on the same terms too.....start a contribution thread or something,

100 members donating 1k each would solve your probs. Easier said than done but we can atleast make a start.
