I have had this connection for almost 10 months now, and everything was running fine on it, however since the last 2 weeks I have been facing constant slowing down, specially during the gaming sessions, and it keeps fluctuating (i.e it will lag for 15 minutes initially, then it will be fine for half an hour, and then start lagging again, and then disconnects). Also another thing i faced is, it gets disconnected (i.e. the ADSL light on the modem shuts off) suddenly (happens after 1 hour or so, but sometimes happens every 10-15 minutes) for 2 seconds and then connects again!! I complained to the MTNL guys, and they came and checked the line and concluded that the line was working perfectly right (and it actually was, as the net stayed connected the whole day when they came lol) Does this happen to any of you guys as well who are using MTNL Broadband services in Delhi??? codedlivess Posted July 3, 2009 Report Share Posted July 3, 2009 as far as I kno...& if u'r talkin bout the ps3 NAT TYPE....NAT has nothing to do with MTNL or any other conection...BUT the router u use.. NAT TYPE 1=Wired Internet conection NAT TYPE 2=Wireless conection NAT TYPE 3=Wireless conection with limited access NAT 3=FAIL initially i had NAT 2.....but for some reason when i changed my router...it changed to TYPE 3......which used to disrupt online play...& voice chat... I went through a lota settings in my router...& finaly changed it back to TYPE 2... BTW how much speed u getting ,try testin in speedtest.net.. Tried speedtest.net and its showing 240kbps download and 200 upload!! Also the ping seemed same as before!!! But as i said, its not always that i lag....when i start the games i lag (happening since 2 weeks), then during the game after 15 mins it becomes perfect, then again after half an hour it starts lagging very badly and then finally disconnects!!! Pata nahi re ekdum se kya ho gaya !!! Sab theek chal raha tha 3 weeks back tak!!!! upgrade to 512 !!! kab se bol raha hai. abh to upgrade kar Yaar am willing to upgrade, infact as i told u i would have upgraded form this month itself (MTNL mein month ke starting mein hi package change hota hai ), but then this started happening!!! And knowing mtnl, it will tk weeks to get it repaired (unka dimaag khaana padega roz)!!! Lag does not depend on the download speed yaar, that is dependant on the 'ping'. Earlier also i never faced much lag with the same connection, its only now since last 2 weeks that i have been facing it!! And i mean horrible lag....people teleport from here to there!!! They r at one place....they stop there....1 sec later they r at nother place as i its a fackin horror movie!!!! Pehle kabhi bhi aisa nahi hua !!! if airtel is available in u'r area switch to that.....it is better then mtnlif u can't for some reason.....then keep calling them untill they fix it....& u'r speed is constant on 256 k/s i have heard a lota ppl complaining bout mtnl......some being in the same area as u Airtel ke liye unka landline bhi lena padega kya??? how much are the charges for airtel 256 and 512 kbps??? Happens to me as well, the ventilation ports are at the bottom of my modem, so i just keep it upside down when this happens and it works fine again..for airtel, the landline is generally free depending on the connection you take (for unlimited ones, it is always free) for NAT issues: NAT Type does not depend on wired/wireless. Type 1 means you are directly connected to internet without a NAT'ing firewall and Type 2 means you are behind a NAT'ing firewall but everything is fine. So, type 1 as well as type 2 is ok. If you are in type 3, just forward the ports 80, 443, 5223, 3478, 3479, 3658 to your PS3. If you still face issues, try giving your PS3 a static IP (you can do this either in PS3 config or if your router allows, you can use your PS3 mac in static allocation settings there) If you are still facing problems, or you just want to somehow get to Type1, put your PS3 into DMZ (Delimilitarized zone). This will disable NAT but your PS3 will be naked open on the internet, as will be your other devices that are interacting with the internet through that modem/router. MTNL hai to sahi hai Where are u putting up in delhi?? I was wondering, could my problem be because of the DSL modem?? I had mtnl internet connection on my previous phone as well and 6-7 months after installation it started giving me the frequent disconnection problems!!! Whenever the repair guy came he always found the line working properly!!! Then i got tht number disconnected and applied for internet on my other mtnl phone number!!! Everything started working fine after that!!!! The only thing that was changed was the Modem, as the same line which was put up for my previous net connection, was used with this one too!!! Exactly what i was thinking!!! Actually the router is on a different floor from where i play my ps3, and so is kept under only a fan instead of AC. And with the temperatures in Delhi as high as they were, even i thought that heating up might have been the issue!!! Bro, do you think because of the constant heat, some parts might have been damaged, and so the performance that the modem is giving is fluctuating (i mean fluctuating big time....one moment everything is lagging like hell, next moment everything working like im playin local matches) all the time??? And Cody bro Tekken online problem is not a NAT related I guess , the online part itself is shitty like VT 09 , we all don't get any problems playing KZ2 , so its the game.. These MTNL guys saale jitni be ad campaigns karle.....their quality is soooo poor!!! (actually their internet service is good, but once you face any problem.....their customer support is sh*t!!!!)!!!! Edit: Just had a chat with MTNL guys (after waiting on the phone for 20 minutes, listening to "All customersupport executives are currently busy" in the same damn tone without any interruptions....wont be surprised if today while sleeping im repeating that same damn line!!!), registered the complaint, they said it would be done in 24 hours!! I asked her if the modem would would be new or would i again have to go running around to get it changed?? She said that "Sir, aap ek kam kariye, aap khud hi apne nearest exchange jaake choose kar lijiye" !! Chalo....hopefully my internet would be fixed now !!! Btw, this mtnl rule sucks man!!!! I kept the mdoem in a vertical position for air to pass through it, and its working great!!! Have not got DC and have lagged only for 5 mins max at a stretch!! Though i still feel that something has gone wrong with the modem (maybe some circuit problem) as i noticed two things: 1) Sometimes it still makes the internet very slow....but becomes alright within 5 minutes 2) Need to put it on a seperate power outlet (and tht too the bada waala power oulet which heavy electricals like Fridge etc use) to get it to work consistently!! If i put it in a power outlet where another electrical equipment is also being simultaneously used then it gives all sort of problems!! This wasnt the case earlier, and its only now tht its acting like this!! I guess some circuit might hve been damaged slightly and thus it is requiring more and consistent power to run smoothly!!
