techstylist Posted July 8, 2009 Report Share Posted July 8, 2009 mate i suggest dont buy any games from ebay india in the future as recently i sold my xbox 360 elite too a guy in chennai... He Recived the console evrything was in tip top shape... thn he bought a game from ebay (orange box). As soon as he recd it he put it into the conosle and it gave the error please place this disc in an 360 console.... thn my other frnd too bought a game from ebay india for the 360 same thing happenend..... somethings really fishy going on with people sellin games on ebay .... there is mostly nothing wrong with ur 360, its a probllem with the game disc.... "On rare occasions when a user inserts a game disc the game will not load and a white screen will display, followed by this message: To play this disc, please insert it in an Xbox 360 console. This message appears despite the fact that the console is, indeed, an Xbox 360. The error may be accompanied by a short and low buzzing noise. The best way to fix this is to restart the console, eject the disc and re-insert it or power-cycle the console. This could, however, be the initial symptoms of a hardware failure. (Note: This problem sometimes arises when no Xbox 360 controller either wired or wireless is connected to the console when loading a disc, or the disk may need cleaning)Another problem has occurred wherein discs of any type will not be recognized by the reader, and the dashboard will display an "Unplayable Disc" prompt. This is accompanied by a similar buzzing noise from the disc reader, although it affects all media and not just Xbox 360 game discs. This is due to a total failure of the disc-drive; the console itself still functions for Live and Arcade purposes, but discs can not be read, and the drive itself will fail to even spin up or read any discs. Another error that will pop-up during actual game play is "This disc is unreadable", with little indication as to why it’s unreadable, other than sounds of the drive straining to read the disc. The frequency of this error is also inconsistent, sometimes happening many times in one play session, or not happening at all with the same game. Just make sure you try multiple disks please before replacing parts. Unfortunately I realized this the hard way, Xbox 360s have no device to hold the disk down and they often scratch disks while playing them this cause be fixed usually by making sure the console is secure and is horizontally placed. aayushjoshi Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Share Posted July 8, 2009 hi guys thanks for all the replies, i have few more queries -my xbox got registered with ms support without any issues, but my ebay seller asked me to tell tht it was bought off chroma in mumbai and not to tell from ebay. so now i am confused, will at some point of time the ms guys will ask me for a recipt from chroma or not? if yes what am i supposed to do. -ms guys are sending me a replacement for game disc and power cable, but i cant wait tht long to make sure tht my console can play games. If someone from bangalore can share any game disc with me just to confirm tht my console is goo, then tht wld be gr8. -i tried to put my sony rewritable disc and it was unable to read it, then i tried with another dvd-r disc containing some divx movies, it was able to read it but cldnt play the movies as it said it needs to get some software download to play this. does tht mean my drive is alright? -how to get software update without net connection? Bulovski Posted July 8, 2009 Report Share Posted July 8, 2009 you don't need a bill - just the serial number. also, don't remove your faceplate. the ms replacement guy will not check anything since he's just getting a power cable and the game disc. even when you replace your console the ms guy is usually a courier fellow who will just check for outside signs of tampering - and the sticker cannot be seen from the outside. just leave the console alone. you can always ask the seller if it's a modded console or not. Like bulvoski said, just let it be the courier guy wont check anything. 3. Its a Sony disc what do you expect. But your drive is fine if it was able to read the dvd but try using a regular dvd(not divx/avi) just to confirm. 4. I don't think its possible. Games burnt on this dvds won't work till you get your console soft modded. what is the exact error that comes up on your console? _Hellsboy_ Posted July 9, 2009 Report Share Posted July 9, 2009 dude what I personally suggest is, try some other game.Cos I actually never tried the arcade disc (I got gta4 the day I got my xbox and after that didnt feel like trying any other game).Tried it just now and it didnt work.But my xbox plays all other games without a hitch.So I guess the disc is screwed ur drive is fine.Try some other game man.You must have gotten forza2/viva pinata free?? The 5-1 arcade games disc may be faulty as majority of these failed to work. you need to call up ms customer care and ask for a replacement under warranty. games have a 90 day replacement warranty.
