Nintendo-Scene Wii Serial Tracker Input your Wii's serial number and you'll come to know your Wii's motherboard status, aka whether its D2A, D2B or D2C and it also tells you whether your drive's legs are cut or not. Now do remember, if your drive's legs are cut, then the modder MIGHT have to scrap off a part of a chip on your motherboard and literally recreate the legs for modchip installation, which can be a major pain in the a*s. This way, you guys can come to know which motherboard you got WITHOUT opening up your Wii I just checked out mine, and it said this... Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2B. Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut. Woohoo!!! That means mine was a clean install Kinda like having a launch Wii . No shitty scraping of the chip or recreating the legs, which means installing the modchip on my console must've been a breeze which also makes me all the more happy that I can take out that junk of a clone chip and install a genuine one without any problems. Just what I hoped for. So, go ahead and check out what your Wii's motherboard is and post here. It'll help us to know what kinda motherboard is circulating in the local gray markets and how efficient "our modders" are PS: On a side note, its also gonna help people who haven't yet modified their Wii's and will help em to determine whether their Wii's can modded easily or not and which modchip would be compatible with their Wii's Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Lol dude...am not gonna do it myself. Am not good with soldering either. Am gonna ask my friend who is an ELITE PS2 modder (like installing HDDs to PS2 slims ) to install me a genuine one but am gonna do it ONLY if this clone one starts giving me any problems. I have yet to burn the wiikey update and check out whether mine actually updates or not You got a clone too ? I thought you had an original Wiikey Nevertheless, are you facing any trouble with yours ? Edit: Also, I spoke with that friend of mine, and he said he can do it if he gets proper diagrams, which are easily available from official wiikey website Also, a five wire install should'nt be a problem for a guy who does like very minute 30+ wire installs for PS2 slim HDDs Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
