KnackChap Posted July 25, 2009 Report Share Posted July 25, 2009 Kaz Hirai, the chairman and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, will kick off Tokyo Game Show 2009 with a keynote address, the show’s organizer announced Friday. The speech, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. on September 24, is tentatively titled “Sony Computer Entertainment: New Tactics for 2009.” Hirai last keynoted TGS in 2007, shortly after taking the reins of the Sony division. Then, he spoke about a shift in strategy, saying that the PlayStation 3 was fundamentally a “game machine,” stepping back from his predecessor Ken Kutaragi’s vision of the hardware as an all-in-one media supercenter. He also took the occasion to announce the DualShock 3 controller. Tokyo Game Show keynotes by platform makers generally contain a few interesting announcements, although never anything on the level of an E3 press briefing.
