They're informed of new SKUs and price changes long before official announcements are made. I guess they're under NDA not to reveal this info, but there's only so much Sony can do. How many times have we heard of news leaked by Gamestop, Best Buy, etc employees. You can't really stop it. The only thing Sony could do is to only inform the distributors and retailers once the announcement was made, in which case the price cut would take effect after a longer period of time.
