MS28 and a VIA SATA adapter

I bought this 360 early this year ( March I guess) and didn't have any problems so far...but lately some games give unreadable error but after cleaning the disc or re-inserting it solves the issue...is it advised to send the console for repairs once, even though the problem is not regular, so that I get the heat sink and other dvd drive problems rectified ? Will I get the same console back or will they send me someone else's reparied console?

^ wrong thread, ask your question in the RROD thread OR the dvd drive problem thread.

Err..Actually before modding is it advised to send for repairs...will they replace the DVD drive with some other make like Hitachi or somethin? If so, i am happy with this one...

if your console is under warranty and you are facing intermittent problems, then get it replaced. if your dvd drive is having difficulty in reading retail discs, then chances are it wont be able to handle the quality of backup media - basically the frequency of errors would increase.

ps: you will get a new console - whether it's a brand new or a refurbished unit, depends on your luck. and yes, your dvd drive could end up being a sammy, hitachi or even a benq - you cant control that outcome

VIA SATA Adapter works like a charm with the MS28 drive...Got the SATA adapter off e-bay..VIA VT6421A chipset to be precise...Didn't notice it had 2 internal Sata ports...was struggling to get my drive recognised with the port close to the back end of my computer... Then finally saw the other port close to the front end of the computer(which was mentioned in many tutorials...damn)...connected it to that and finished everything in 10 minutes... ;)

Btw, Orange box FTW!
