KnackChap
so we've had sony emulating the emotion engine on the cell for quiet a while now, but for a completele software solution, they still needed to find a way emulate the GS(graphics synthesizer) somehow on the cell. sony finally patents technology to emulate the "Graphics Synthesizer" on the PS2 using the Cell & RSX: http://gigazine.net/index.php?/news/commen...803_ps2_on_ps3/ so its either... 1) PS2 BC on all models via a firmware update 2) PS2 games on the PSN store 3) both, if sony loves us

Aftrunner
If its BC with PS2 titles (on DVDs) its a fantastic step. If its just for titles on the PSN store i.e. Digital downloads, Sony can f**k right off.

Whats so wrong with digital downloads, it would mean we wont have to hunt down those rare game discs....Besides something is better than nothing. What about our existing collection of PS2 games? One thing Sony can do is allow you to authorize your game disc and then download the "B/C-fied" version from PSN. Well it might be OK with you to pay for titles you already own or pay more for titles than they what they would be available in shops for (seeing as how a lot of great PS2 games retail for 500-700 here and I doubt you will get a ton of PS2 games for 10-12 USD on PSN) but dont expect me to thank Sony anytime soon for that. So just to reiterate disc based BC means a sale or else they can FRO. Good thing I still have my PS2.

Nemo
seeing that i broke my (true) console gaming virginity with a modded ps2.. personally it doesnt matter to me if they hav a PSN only BC.. as obviously all my discs were *ahem* but to all those who here are complaining about the ps2 games they have, dont u guys would still be having ur ps2's if u hav the discs ?? Does it not make ur basis for being angry pretty much moot.. ?? also if people are complaining about the PSN price v/s the retail dics price, the sharing (which i hope is not taken away) wud take care of that..
