Posted August 20, 2009 Report Share Posted August 20, 2009 Alright, so here we have our own thread for organizing the Ashes Tournaments (it will make keeping a track of all confirmed players, teams, suggestions, match scores etc., so much easier ). Lonewolf5646 has agreed to help me with organizing the tournament!! Thanks bro !! Important Points and Rules for the Tournament No. 1 = "T10 Championship" 1) All those who are interested in playing the tournament, Lets write down our PSN ids in this thread along with your IndianVideoGamer user-id and choice of teams. This would be open for the next few days (i.e. till Sunday, 23rd August, 12:00pm). Once we get all the names in, we will divide the people into two groups, or more, depending on the number of people who sign up (il try to find a tool which would do this randomly, or will tell one of my office mates to divide the people into 2 groups, so that no bias is there). 2) The Tournament will start off with the Round-Robin matches, where the intra-group matches will be played. Then, the top teams (the number of teams from each group would be disclosed after we know the exact number of people signing up, though a total of 8 teams will progress) will progress to the knockout stage, i.e. Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and Final!! 3) 3rd, 5th and 7th place matches will also be played!! Then the final 8 players would be ranked accordingly and displayed in this thread (the topic starter can post these names in the opening post itself)!! 4) The winners of the matches would be awarded '2' points, while the losing member would be awarded '0' points. If its a draw, both teams are awarded '1' point each. 5) After a match is played, the members who played that match would then need to post their scores here on the forum, as it would also help us in calculating the Net Run Rate, in a situation where two teams are tied with the same points. 6) The players have to select and submit their choice of team in advance, and would not be allowed to change it after the tournament starts. Please confirm your team before Sunday 12:00pm, else a default team (Kenya) would be chosen for you! However, after the fixtures have been maintained, if it is noticed that both the players have chosen the same team, then one/both of those two players have the option of choosing another team 'For that match only' , but have to inform the other player about his choice atleast one hour before the match. Both the players can still go ahead and play with the same team if they wish to do so. I know this does not hold any strategic value, but I just thought it would be cool if the players knew in advance what team they are going to face ! 7) No un-official teams can bu used for the tournament (e.g. Asia XI, WOrld XI etc.). Only the International teams can be used. 8) I need atleast 1 more members who would help me in organizing these matches!! 9) All kinds of strategies are allowed, except any glitches which might get reported by the members "before" the tourny starts (though there can be some exeptions to this rule. However, the result of the match in which they are used will still stand, but the glitches would be banned for the remaining matches) 10) Once the rosters are fixed, I would try to to evenly allocate the 'Host Team', for all the matches (will try my best to give every player equal opportunities to be the 'Host Team'). I thought this would be an important factor to consider, since the host team will get to decide the venue, type of pitch, type of ball etc, and thus, it can be an advantge to the home side (since pitch etc play a huge role in cricket !! 11) For the finals, the teams will be chosen according to their Points-Table position in their groups only. However, since there is a possibility that we would not have 16 or more teams, some players might get a 'Walkover' in the Quarter-Final, which would be decided based on their 'Points-Table' Position amongst all the groups taken together (i.e. if we have one 'Walkover Slot', then the player with the highest points amongst all the players/groups taken together, would be the beneficiary of that walkover. If two or more players would be on the same points, then the Net-run-rate would be taken into consideration). 12) If any player gets disconnected during the match, the opponent would be adjudged the winner! 13) Incase of a Tie, both the teams would then proceed to a Tie-Breaker, aka IPL-2 rules. Both teams will get one over to play, with only 3 batsmen in their kitty!! If you lose 2 wickets, your innings finishes then and there, as 2 wickets would mean you are all-out. Field restrictions would be applcable for this tie-breaking over!!! Both the players need to pick the same team they had picked for the actual match (though you can change the batting order, which would determine who your 3 batsmen would be). 14) If a player gets disconnected, the match result (Win, Lose or Draw) would be decided on the basis of the scores when the disconnection took place. This would be done on the basis of a vote (if the scores are too close to judge, else if its a obvious result, then that result would be taken)!!! --------------------------x--------------------------------------x--------------------------------------x-------------x Imp: The tournament would start on Sunday, i.e 25th August, at 5 PM. The Groups would be announced on Sunday itself by 5PM, after which the tournament starts!! People in the same group, need to schedule matches amongst themselves, i.e. by contacting each other and mutually agreeing on a particular date and timing when both can play the match! The "Closing Date" for the Round-Robin matches would also be disclosed on Sunday itself, so all the Round-Robin matches need to be completed by this date! Any two members, who are not able to decide and complete their match before the Closing Date (due to their disagreements regarding the dates or time of playing the match), would both be awarded '0' points for that match. If, however, a member does not play the other member on purpose, or is not able to provide time even after repeated attempts by the other members (and this can be proved by the other members), then the other member would be awarded '2' points for that match, while the defaulting one would be awarded '0' points. The final decision on this matter would be taken by ME !! No prizes, as such, are there to be won , but hey, all this is more about fun than anything else !!!! As I said, if a match-up consists of two players with the same team (Say Australia), then for that match, one/both the players can (if they wish to do so) change their teams (e.g choose India, South frica), and then come back to their default team (Australia) for the other matches!! Even if we have a situation where its Aus vs Aus, I dont think it will be much of a problem!!! Remember, A Player has the option of changing team 'only' for that particular match where his opponent also chose the same team. WELL ANGY HERE IS A SUGGESTION IF ANY PLAYERS GETS DISCONNECTED WHY NOT LEAVE IT TO OTHER PLAYER WETHER HE WANTS TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE OR NOT SINCE SOMETIMES THERE CAN BE MISHAPPENING LIKE POWER CUT(HAPPENS A LOT IN NORTH) OR SOME PROB IN INTERNET SO THE PLAYER MIGHT BE PLAYING FAIR BUT SOME THINGS ARW JUST OUT OF CONTROL JUST MY SUGGESTION Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
