Anyone here used HD Box Pro ?

Hi,

Well, after doing a whole lot of research about getting my Wii and/or any other device with component output to my Dell 24" Monitor, I've narrowed it down to HD Box Pro. Previously I was thinking of getting the Vdigi Wii cables, but it can only handle a 480p signal, so most of the GC, some Wii games, and most of the VC/WiiWare titles were out of the picture.

I also checked out X2VGA2, but it's been out of stock for ages, and it turns out people are saying HD Box Pro is better than X2VGA2.

I do agree that the Vdigi Wii cable was costing somewhare around Rs. 2500 with shipping to me, and this HD Box Pro is costing me somewhere around Rs. 3400 with shipping, but with it I can even connect any other devices with component output like Tata Sky and PS2, etc.

You can check out a really good video review of it here....

So....what do you guys think ? Your suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanx a lot in advance :D Am dying to get my Wii on my 24" Monitor at 480p :D Also, another major advantage would be that I won't have to use my TV anymore, which is reserved for other folks at home and that me and my friends and cousins can play the Wii in my private room, thereby not disturbing other members of the family :P

Ooh, that's quite useful to know!

Where are you buying this from btw?

Well, I haven't checked out whether other sites are selling this, but so far I've only checked it out at HD Box Pro website....

I have mailed them with regards to how much they'll charge if I opt for EMS Express and also the type of power adapter I'll get according to Indian regulations (220v). Will let you know as soon as I get a reply :scratchchin:

Edit: Speak of the devil :P

Hi,

Our adapter is 100-240v, this is ok for use in India, you may need a adapter to change US lag to three lag.

HKD428(HD BOX PRO) + HKD320 (EMS charge) for EMS to India.

You can choose to pay with USD/EUR/BDP/HKD, HKD will have a lowest total amount to our customer because we are base in Hong Kong.

Buy it at our shopping cart with internatinal mail, or let me know you need a PayPal request for EMS.

Thanks for interesting out product and please feel free to contact us at any time.

Best Regards,

Martin

HD BOX PRO

Well, in this case, the EMS shipping comes down to Rs. 2011, which is out of the picture, so I guess I'll go with the regular Hong Kong Shipping, which I heard at other forums was quite good

So, if we choose Hong Kong Shipping, it comes down to this....

428 HKD (Rs. 2690) + 103 HKD (Rs. 647) = totaling Rs. 3337.

I had earlier checked out their pricing in US Dollars and Sterling Pounds, but as stated in their email, HKD is the cheapest :D It's stated on their website that we can email them the number of units we need, and they'll tell us the reduced/discounted price accordingly :)

If you're interested, then please let me know as I want to place the order as soon as possible. I've waited enough already (2+ months' of research :() Also, am not sure whether we can save much when ordering 2 pieces, but you never know :P

Hey there,

Well, change of plans. I was going to order this today, but yesterday, I went to Lamington Road (Mumbai) with my cousin for buying a laptop, and we just happened to pass by a shop that only had cables. All kinds of different cables. I spoke to the guy, and asked for a "Component to VGA" cable, and fortunately, he had it :D It looks like this....

Component_VGA_RCA.jpg

Rs. 200

Then, I bought a VGA female to female gender changer....

VGA_Gender_Changer_Female_to_Female_HD15_DSub.jpg

Rs. 100

and finally I bought 3 of these golden ones (RCA female to female coupler)....

369837.jpg

Rs. 50 each totalling Rs. 150

He also had silver ones and they were Rs. 20 each, but he said it would make a whole lotta difference, and I didn't wanna take any chances :) The only reason I believed him was coz he had two types of "Component to VGA" cables, one for Rs. 200 and the other for Rs. 400, and he actually recommended me to take the Rs. 200 one coz he said it was better and the Rs. 400 one was crap :P

Anyways, once I had this setup, all I had to do was connect my Wii component cable to the "Component to VGA" cable using the RCA female to female couplers and then connect that to my Dell Monitor's Analog cable using the "VGA female to female gender changer" :) and wallah....Nintendo Wii @ 480p in all it's glory :D and that too only at Rs. 450 :)

Well, it's not as good as my Xbox 360 @ 1080p, but I now have the privilege of playing my Wii on my Dell S2409 24" Full HD Monitor :)

I'll post a few pictures later tonight. Am getting meself a sleek cybershot phone today :D

Edit: Credit for this goes to muin who told me how to go about doing it this way (the cheapest way), but I never got around to finding these cables and had lost hope and hence was going for the HD Box Pro :) Thanx a lot muin. You ended up saving me 3 grand buddy. You da man :D

dude...if i tell you i wanted that stuff...can you get it and ship it for me...you'd me doing me a great favour...whaddaya say?

Dude...the problem is I stay at least a 2-hour train ride AWAY from that place and I have to change trains midway. It consumes at least 5 hours of my life just to be there and back :( The main reason we went there was to get my cousin a laptop. The trip was well worth it coz we got a HP laptop @ 52k which was otherwise priced at 64k :P

Where do you stay ? May be you can find someone else here at IVG who stays nearby Grand Road station (Lamington Road). It would basically be a walk in the park for them  I have the guy's card, so that takes care of the proper address and the phone number :samui:

Sorry buddy :naughty:

ok so i was in nehru place today and did some digging. i found the exact set of cables that gaara had bought. however, my friend Vaibhav mentioned going for something like this instead of the Component to VGA cable recommended to gaara.

once i get that sorted out, i'll do a thorough test and report my findings.

how was the wedding

great! got to meet up with bobby, enoo, and cody (first time meeting the latter two). church reception was interesting but a bit too long. the priest came off kinda pissed off and boring most of the times, but reggie and arti (his wife) were eating it up. its a shame bobby had to leave though, he had a show to take care off ;/

unfortunately, none of us had the time to play any 6-player X-Men arcade =(

The link isn't working for me. Thought I might help out a little :wallbash:

Sorry for not being able to help earlier Killroy dude. That darn place is so far away :) If your deal with KeezNah doesn't work out, and if am going there anytime, I'll let you know beforehand so if you're still interested at that point in time, then I'll get them for you :chair:
