To find out if your monitor is HDCP, check the manual or the website. If it aint, DVI wont work. Friend of mine had the same problem with a Dell 2209 monitor thats not HDCP compliant. HDMI to DVI cable didnt work. Long story short, he is looking for a new monitor.
Hawaldar
One option for you is to get the hdmi to dvi converter. such as this converter. It should work fine as ive used one myself and works with my ps3.

in-fi-ni-ty
i use hdmi to dvi converter. it gives gr8 n clear picture. no problems at all. its hdcp compliant. u can see if der is hdmi to vga wire bcoz if der is no hdcp required der den it can still give picture similiar to a dvi connection. but i think u might still require hdcp der
Hawaldar
The dell page for this monitor (link) says it has dvi-d with hdcp. That means your ps3 will work without any problems. All you need is either a hdmi to dvi cable or an hdmi to dvi converter and an hdmi cable and your set.

anish81
sorry guys for posting again in this thread........... Last few days i was looking to check compatibility of my Monitor with PS3. How can i check that my Monitor will be HDCP compatible with PS3. I have no friends having PS3. So is there any software tool for that i can check the HDCP compatiblity with My monitor. I am afraid because i have no SDTV also i use a cheap external TV Tuner box to watch TV on my monitor. It only has Composite and RF input and VGA output. So i cannot even mess around with PS3 settings. PLs guide me. any help will be greatly appreciated.
