My PC hard disk not getting detected

well i had installed a new 160 gb Hard Drive about a year back for my PC. i also have an 80gb hard drive. the new 160gb had drive has been giving me problems lately like sometimes not getting detected as if it didnt exist. but when i rebooted my pc, it used to show up.. but today it isnt showing up even after reboot. i dont know what to do? pls help............... :thumbsup:

As he said ^^ is the HDD SATA or IDE

 

1st check whether its showin up in BIOS i:e is it getting detected in BIOS

 

If its IDE u will have to do the Jumper setting

 

Please check whether the HDD is gettin appropriate power , the molex or sata Power connector attached to the HDD should come directly from the power supply without any other Hardware component attached to tht wire nt even in between

bro i have got that hard drive at the time when i was a complete noob. i dont have any idea if it is SATA or IDE.. how to confirm that?? and yes it has a different power supply. that i am sure of

 

ps: btw good news it started working again. but i m afraid that this issue will happen again :(
