Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 80 GB PS3 and have some HD movies to watch. I found that PS3 cant detect NTFS, so split the 6GB file into into parts and copied them to FAT32 formatted 8GB thumb drive. The issue is my PS3 is not displaying the 8GB drive on the menu. Where as another 4GB thumb drive is properly displayed. Can any of you guyz plz help me on having the 8GB drive detected?

I don't think you should format the pendrive to fat 32 go back to default and put the file in the drive dont worry it detects the pendrive. only external hdd should be fat32.

But the default is Fat32 and you cant put the 6GB file in it as the file is more than 4GB

the ps3 is unable to detect the fat32 formatted 8 Gb pen drive; where as its detecting the 4Gb pen drive. I know that once the pen drive is detected we should go for triangle button to display all the files. But the issue is its not detecting the pen drive itself

But isn't that strange when ppl can use their external FAT32 HDDs even when they are not partitioned to 4GB

Yeah my Verbatim 16GB Pen drive and WD 250GB Passport External USB HDD formatted to FAT 32 works fine on PS3 , u can't transfer a file larger than 4GB in it though due to FAT32 restriction. :naughty:

Try full format instead of quick format in Windows and see if it works.

I was successful in transferring the file through a 80GB ext HDD with a 24GB FAT32 partition. But.... Why doesnt it detect 'any' 8GB pendrives  (I tried Kingston and Transcend)
