EA has been posting loss for years now.... Sales is not always equal to profit , dunno what they are losing money on... Maybe they are spending ACtivision level budget on their games or maybe Fifa license. Then theres TOR

I know EA has been posting losses since years like Sony ..

Then how could they invest $500 million back into the company (It is 15% of their market cap)

So I thought they actually posted a profit this quarter

Sony Mobile sales has been good surprisingly without having a good US market userbase.

No wonder they have increased their target from 23 to 30 million this year.

And their mobile division had the highest loss even higher than their Home entertainment division

The best-selling titles of July:

NCAA Football 13 (360, PS3)

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (Wii, 360, NDS, PS3, 3DS, PSV, PC)

The Amazing Spider-Man (360, PS3, 3DS, NDS, Wii)

Just Dance 3 (Wii, 360, PS3)

Batman: Arkham City (360, PS3, PC)

Call of Duty: Black Ops (360, PS3, DS, Wii, PC)

Assassin's Creed: Revelations (360, PS3, PC)

NBA 2K12 (360, PS3, Wii, PSP, PS2, PC)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (360, PS3, Wii, PC)

Dead Island (360, PS3, PC)

3DS is also the only system to see a sales increase compared to this month in 2011.

Microsoft reports that “Xbox 360 maintains its lead in the U.S. console market, marking 19 months as the top-selling current-generation console in the United States.” 203,000 units were sold in July, more units than any other gaming hardware. “This marks the 17th consecutive month that Xbox 360 has held more than a 40 percent share of current-generation console sales in the United States,” Microsoft said in a statement.

Nintendo says 3DS saw a 44% increase in sales compared to July 2011 and adds that more than 260,000 units of portable hardware were sold in July.

PS Vita fell below 50k as per July NPD.

Source: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=40851934#post40851934

Creamsugar has access to NPD charts, so that is true. That means less than 12.5k per week on average.

Unless there is a price drop and ridiculous Memory card prices are reduced, RIP Vita.

Vita is in a fukin bad position , worst I have seen in gaming history. The whole project and R&D was too expensive to begin with. Sony doesnt have the dev teams to make killer handheld titles , and even if they put out their A teams on the job. They need them for PS3/PS4 support.

3rd party devs dont give a sh*t , 3DS is easier/cheaper to develop on AND has a higher user base. The west doesnt really have many hardcore handheld gamers , mostly just casuals. Lets see how many units PSO 2 can push in japan.

Thing is, as bad as Vita is doing (and its doing horrifically), I just dont see a price cut doing anything for Sony except piling up the losses. Yeah, the 3DS had a resurgence post a price cut but lets not overlook the fact that it got flooded it games around the same time. Mario games to be more exact. Sony has NOTHING in its profile that can match that.

Infact I honestly dont see a way out, going the way they are. From all accounts it looks like it will get worse. Right now they are having problems getting third party developers to make games for this thing. Which isnt surprising. No one seems to be buying Vita games at retail, third or first party. And despite what some dude was going on about a few pages back, digital PSN sales are minuscule otherwise Sony would be throwing those numbers out to get other developers on board.

Like I said a few pages ago, they need a strategy change. The only people who want a PS3-on-the-go are the PS3 fans. And thats a tiny market there.

Sony should just dump Vita and pay more attention to Playstation Suite

Their mobile sales saw a huge jump this quarter

They have wasted billions in R&D and they are selling Vita at a loss

God knows why they are even supporting this system

49k in US

40k in Japan

Dunno about Europe but won't be higher than 40k

Total months sales - 130k at max

3DS sales in US alone is that much for the month

Weekly 3DS sales in Japan are double of that number

Forget about 3rd party , Sony's 1st party isn't releasing anything on Vita

I don't know how come people say Sony has the best 1st party .. They just release high number of games but none of them is a system seller

Uncharted , Resistance on Vita both flopped so badly

Atleast Microsoft has Halo which could move million of consoles , Sony literally has none

This lol , I remember even back when PS3 was launching everyone was babbling about how PS2 has a 150 million FANbase  and it cant fail.

Buyers=/= Fans

Not really, UC,resistance and even halo are CONSOLE system sellers . You need genuine Handheld games to move systems.

Even for nintendo their most popular games on 3DS is not same as Wii

Pokemon and Mario are more popular on DS than Wii.

Pokemon and Monster Hunter are clear examples here , hella popular on handhelds not soo much on Consoles.

No . No

I meant Sony has no handheld system sellers

I compared it with Halo because Microsoft has no handheld :P

Atleast give better examples like God of War , MGS :P

Resistance 3 sold just 280k in it's opening month

It didn't even move itself , system seller is a secondary thing

Worst ? Not really. Ill give it one "holiday season" before giving it a tag of worst.

Also Sony made a mistake in making gaming handheld , which only does gaming. 360/PS3 also are great media players and they keep evolving that the difference between gaming dedicated console and handheld.

The other features in Vita are crap.

They need to solve the Vita in Japan.

It's a handheld market, they just need one game to launch it off backed up with some good japanese titles.

Persona 5 Vita Exclusive.

Ya, thats true, people who are thinking that price cut will save it are in for a rude awakening.

Price cut will be a good bump.

Memory Card along makes it very expensive imo. They need to sort that out.

Also they need to improve their marketing, people at gaf are complaining that Vita has been barely promoted.

So your solution to a hand-held thats being positioned as a "console on the go" experience and failing miserably is to make it MORE console like? O.o

And the marketing excuse is bullshit. Its the same excuse thats brought up when a Sony first party franchise bombs. And its bullshit not even cause Vita ads are often plastered all over gaming websites and feature regularly in MMA/WWE broadcasts I see. Its bullshit because you can only market any product to a certain degree, after that people have to actually have a desire to buy it.

The whole "its doing poorly cause its not advertised well" is fanboy fantasy. The idea that people will jump over each other to buy this awesome product if only they knew about it. So its not a flaw with the product but people are just unaware of it. Basically when all else fails, blame the PR department.
