The Sales Charts Thread

Recommended Posts

Microsoft has clarified to me that the 8 million KInect number is sell in, or how many were shipped to retailers. Not sell thru.

Forecast for Kinect was 5 mln units sold thru to customers. Microsoft says it `far surpassed' the 5 mln sell thru forecast but no exact #

Going forward, Microsoft says it will return to reporting sell in numbers for Kinect, which is what it has always done for consoles.

So basically useless numbers. :|

December NPD -

New! 10. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (360, PS3, Wii, PC) ELECTRONIC ARTS - 906.4K

**(includes CE, GOTY editions, bundles, etc. but not those bundled with hardware)

Hardware-

Nintendo DS - 2.5 Million (-24%)

Wii - 2.36 Million (-38%)

Xbox 360 - 1.86 Million (+42%, best ever sales by 420k units)

PS3 - 1.21 Million (-11%)

Only 3 exclusives in the top 10 and 2.3 million hardware units sold. Looks like Nintendo are definitely going out of business next gen. :giggle:

Pretty average December though. MS used the old bullshit excuse of supplies constrained to explain why they came second () and apparently both Kinect sports and Dance central have sold 1 million apiece (which is pretty astonishing once you realize the install base is only 3 million or so tops).

I bet money the PS3 sales spike in the next 2 months now that its hacked. Maybe Sony should send some flowers with the lawsuit papers to the hackers.

XX. Gran Turismo 5 - 560.5K

So around a million units in the US, not bad at all.

360 still selling like a champion >3mils in 2 months. :good:

Sony PR:

- LittleBigPlanet 2 currently has a Metacritic score of 94, which makes it one of the Top 10 PS3 games of all times.

What this has to do with Dec NPD.

MS PR:

In order to keep up with holiday demand in December for Xbox 360 and Kinect, Microsoft pulled units from its January and February production.

So they sold what was scheduled to be manufactured in Jan-Feb.

I think they (MS) are gonna have a tougher time of it in 2011, or at least not as good as they had it 2010. Kinect was always gonna give them good momentum but that will be over soon. Then Kinects sales will depend on software support (of which there aint much ATM TBH).

It will be that way until fat xboxs exist. That data transfer rate is Kinect'ss biggest draw-back as of now.

360 did really well, was 1.5 million behind the PS3 this year and almost caught up in 2 or 3 months. :|

Both sold 14 million this year, not bad. Sony is losing the American market though, they need to improve PSN and drop the price asap. But maybe they wont need to drop the price because of the hack. They have a good software lineup this year hopefully that should turn things around in the US.

PS3 piracy started with the Jailbreak dongle, even if you go to Palika, they will give you 10 to 20 games preloaded in HDD. He is being sued for leaking the keys on the internet.
