BenQ Flashing reaches new milestone

As of right now, only nforce and VIA chipsets are supported in 100% software read/write of the BenQ drive with DosFlash. Success varies dependent upon which motherboard you have (intel (ICH) seems to be problematic combined with VIA)

Also, there is NO 'xtreme' firmwares for this drive yet, so as of right now this tool is only useful for getting your key, and using a different drive as a replacement. ixtreme for benq is nearly complete, and in testing stages. No ETA given for release.

and well a tool has been released which can be just used by noobs to swap their drives by putting original benq firmware and fw of drive to be in left and right sections and hitting a button. no need to copy the mobo key by fwtoolbox and spoofinng separately. its called 360 drive switcher by creators. here is link for download: http://x360.gx-mod.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=1589

the elite and halo3 consoles can also be modified like the older ones with hitachis and samsung drives as the benq ixtreme is going to be released today or latest by tommorow. its already complete only testing and quality control is to be done. here is the link: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=626874

1. use imgburn software latest version.

2. use .dvd file with the iso. if you dont have a .dvd file create one using notepad. create a .txt file & type in it :

LayerBreak=1913760

"name of game image".iso.

3. save the .txt file in same folder as "name of game image".iso. change the .txt file extension to .dvd and save it.

4. click mode tab on imgburn software and then click on write mode.

5. select the .dvd file you have created and insert a blank dual layer dvd preferably mosaerbaer in your pc dvd burner.

6. select write speed to be 2.4x or lesser.

7. now you have to bitset(booktype)your drive for next burn as dvd-rom since 360 drives can only read dvd-rom format. to do this you have to go to tools > drive > change booktype > select your drive make > select dvd-rom as next setting.

8.after doing this you are ready to burn your image. it will take approximately 40-45 minutes if you choose 2.4x speed.

9.you can manually set the cpu priority of imgburn thread to high in taskmanager to make more cpu resources available to it. although this is optional.

and of course put the name of iso in place of "name of game image"

the quality of burn will depend upon dvd burner you will use. As you have chip modded;there is no stealth check in it and you wont need any further patching of security sectors in iso, which makes you highly vulnerable to be banned on live.

pm me if i can help you more. Happy Gaming.

well its official now, benq VAD 6038 drive is having best hacked firmware. C4eva released a new version of fw named as C4EVA XTREME Benq V1.1 Multispeed. you have four drive speeds to choose according to your flavour 12x,8x,5x or 2x. here is reult of findings by a user on load times for resuming Halo3 saved games:

"The simple testing I did was to see how long it took from clicking "Resume Saved Game" in Halo 3 until the game actually loaded. Here's what I found:

12x: Load time was 27 seconds, drive rotation noise was loud and constant, seek noise was mildly noticable.

8x: Load time was 29 seconds, drive rotation noise was slightly noticable, seek noise was mildly noticable.

5x: Load time was 30 seconds, drive rotation noise was completely silent, seek noise was nearly silent.

2x: Load time was 36 seconds, drive rotation noise was completely silent, seek noise was the loudest of all."

so the best could be 5x one.

with slower drive speeds there is lesser noise and the wear-tear of drive components will be reduced. also scratched and bad media readabilty increases.

f.y.i stock firmware speed is 12x. :)

there is no information regarding samsung india selling xbox 360 hard drives. apart from samsung, hitachi travelstar and seagate hard drives has also been found on 360's. For a drive to be considered valid it must have the 'Plain text hard disk info' and MS logo PNG. If these elements do not exist then no HDD is detected. So there is no way for third parties to manufacture hard disks without a license or without infringing Microsoft's copyright.also only 12 v hard drives can be connected to it.

on the other hand if you can get a hand on western digital bevs 2.5" sata hard drive(40 gb);you can use it for 360 using a tool called HDDhacker after flashing with it. i think that should cost you less than 2000 rs. hope this info is useful to you.
