ALPHA17
I spent like 2-3 ours on that freaking DICE game and had no idea what the *bleep* I'm doing. It is from the original game, it is like poker, they should have explained it in detail. Retail guys got instructions in the manual so weren't exactly running blind, don't know about you folks. Irredeemable
Err guys, I bought the steam version in the last sale but had to get it downloaded by a friend since my Internet bandwidth is limited . Now when I try to add the game on steam, it restores till 20 percent and then stops... Any ideas on how to get this working?
Heaven Angel
First, move all files to \Steam\SteamApps\common\the witcher 2 Then start Steam, click on install. Steam will auto detect all files and install it. After couple minutes, you should be able to play. NOTE: If your friend has or downloaded OLD version of Witcher 2, Steam might not detect files as Steam version is updated.

dylanjosh
@Alpha - I'll take it later. Btw, can we re-spec anywhere? I'm thinking of going down the Magic skilltree. What if I don't like it later? Also, whats the max level?
ALPHA17
@Alpha - I'll take it later. Roger. Btw, can we re-spec anywhere? I'm thinking of going down the Magic skilltree. What if I don't like it later? Also, whats the max level? Only once, that I recall correctly, very late in the game and only if you go down a certain story path. Almost end-game. This ain't SKYRIM. Max LvL cap is 35.
dylanjosh
Okay. So magic skill tree is okay right? It won't cause any problems later?
ALPHA17
Okay. So magic skill tree is okay right? It won't cause any problems later? It is different to the Sword Master skill tree you might have to adjust, once you get the hang of it, fun to use.
ScrewyAurum
I always keep a healthy balance between signs and sword mastery especially when playing on Hard/Dark. Alchemy I mostly ignore...
Heaven Angel
Only once, that I recall correctly, very late in the game and only if you go down a certain story path. Almost end-game. This ain't SKYRIM. You cannot re-spec in SKYRIM either unless you own DLC or reach 100 in particular skill. (making it legendary and resetting it). After finishing Dragonborn DLC campaign you can use Black Book: Waking Dreams which allows you to re-spec for dragon soul. So if you don't have DLC or not reached 100, you cannot re-spec. _ In Witcher 2, if you don't sell the scroll from "From a bygone era" quest in chapter II, you can re-spec in chapter III by going to Bras of Ban Ard. (he deciphers the scroll and you get password for secret (sort of) room, where you need to solve puzzle and later you can re-spec skills.)

SKYRIM is honestly the weakest of the Elder Scroll games till date, it allows you too much comfort. In Morrowind, turning to a Vampire / Werewolf were was extremely hard, a meta-game in itself with a lot of references to the lore of the world. And once you went down the path, there was no turning back, factions were affected, heck if you were part of a certain Vampire clan prepare to be assaulted by other clan members and certain factions would simply stop talking to you. Yes but if you go to Vergen in Chapter II it is impossible to change your skill-set. Please classify your post as a SPOILER as it has significant plot details in. He does not translate the password, he translates the script on the parchment, you have to order it in a specific way to access the said place. And if you do not change your skills then prepare to be assaulted by four gargoyles. If you do change your skills then you will be deposited outside the chamber. Heaven Angel
Fixed the spoiler, sorry about that. I agree on SKYRIM part. It gives lot of comfort and dumbed down in lot of areas when compared to other 2 games (Morrowind and Oblivion) but it's more fun to play than other two. Morrowind is great good but it was back then...years ago (10+). Now, after playing SKYRIM, I cannot go back to Vvardenfell or Cyrodiil. Regardless of me favoring SKYRIM, all Elder Scroll games has it's own charm and are great in their own right. /OT
