^ When investing in the skill set,

  • STAMINA
  • DODGE capability
  • STAMINA
  • BACK STAB multiplier
  • STAMINA

Should be how you should go early game.

Later you can see how your play-style is and invest points in the respective branch. Ideally aim for being really good at something instead of a Jack of all Trades. I would suggest the Swordsman path as it is the easiest system to master and play.

From whatever I gather, if you are playing it just the once, it is suggested to take Iorveth's path. I myself took Roche's, completed the game, started TW1, reached Chapter 2 I think and then started TW3 when it released.

i only played through this game once and i selected iorveth's path...also selected the same decisions on the witcher 3...some of them are quite surprising

The Witcher 2 Can Now Run On Xbox One And Is Free Right Now

Got an Xbox One? Love The Witcher games? Well, you can now play the middle game in CD Projekt’s beloved action-RPG franchise for free.
The news of gratis Geralt came as part of Microsoft’s latest backwards compabitility roster announcement. However, it’s only available in select regions—U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, France and Germany—from January 21 through February 5.

I own Witcher trilogy on Steam but never played lol :P So started with Witcher 2.

Go for it. You're in for a massive treat. Play through it twice to find out how drastically the mission structure changes for both the side character's paths that you choose.
