@Ne0, too bad :( BTW the GOG version is a smaller download (almost 6 GB less).

Anyway, I have to say I'm beginning to hate the console-friendly interface in the game, especially the inventory. The first game had perfectly good UI which showed a lot of info without the need for scrolling. This however is a scrolling nightmare! The worst offender is the part which shows the ingredients/components required for Alchemy and Crafting. It's a slow auto-scrolling list which takes forever! (An alternative to this is the Journal but that still means you have to open a separate screen just to check for components).

Another complaint I have is that its difficult to tell what alchemical components herbs have before picking them (the weight strict limit doesn't help either). The first game showed a small icon next to the herb which made ingredient farming very easy, now you have to actually remember which herb contains what (yeah I want to roleplay a Witcher but this is taking it too far!). Lastly I miss the ALT key highlighting from the first game. You can still send a "ping" which temporarily highlights interactive objects in the immediate area but it doesn't work as well as the ALT-key function from Witcher 1.

Know that these are all minor nitpicks though which I hope CDPR addresses via a patch. The game is still miles ahead of something like DA2. It's just that it sets the standard so high that you wish even the minor issues didn't exist.

Overall I'm having a blast with the game. Still doing random side quests in Chapter 1 and exploring to my heart's content.

You wont hit the weight limit if you don't pick up Timber, Cloth and Leather. Btw Ty, did you find any storage place in the village?

Also I have to say, navigating the inventory with a controller is a major PITA.

Nope I haven't been able to find one.

I'm not hoarding raw materials anyway (unless it is something rare). I immediately create stuff as soon as I feel the inventory is getting crowded.

It sure is! And it's a PITA with the KB+Mouse as well thanks to the endless scrolling :( Grid-based layout is a must for PC RPGs. The combat however handles MUCH better with the controller.

BTW, defeated all arm-wrestling opponents in Flotsam! Next... dice poker!

For dice poker, there's always F5. But yeah they've made it a little difficult this time and the new dice are hard to read as well.

I also miss the old dice music... :(

http://www.neoseeker.com/news/16482-witcher-2-patch-coming-next-week-new-videos-explore-cast/

Update: the team notes the patch actually will address performance, for both memory leaks which degrade performance over time, and slow performance while indoors. Overall and especially outdoor performance seems to be the issue for most people, however -- it's not yet known if this will be addressed quite yet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As noted yesterday, a patch for The Witcher 2 is in the works, though will be taking a little longer than expected, arriving sometime next week.

Besides the mouse inversion fix, keyboard rebinding will be improved and "assorted other fixes" will be included; 16:10 support is expected to arrive at a later date. Unfortunately there's no mention of performance optimizations, but remember NVIDIA users should be able to do alright with the latest beta drivers, while AMD users can expect a hotfix driver sooner than later; Crossfire users can expect an application profile soon, too. We'll be keeping you updated with any significant developments on this front, so stick around.

Please make the game playable for me at lowest settings. It looks okay on lowest settings, still runs like crap, not sure what the issue is.

WTF ATI SDB, look at this guy's post:

I have 2 computers:

The first one is four years old, and I have smooth 20 fps:

AMD 5600 2.8 dual core, 9600GT, 4 GB RAM

My new computer cannot run the game and I have fps drop every few seconds:

i7 2.6 GHz, ATI 5650, 4 GB RAM

While my new computer runs every game on high settings, it FAILS to run witcher2 while my old computer, that cannot handle anymore games like shogun2, crysis2, brotherhood, can run wither2 with good fps (at least it never drops)

Seriously? They are giving an excuse that the Beta build ran fine and the final game was changed too much and hence it cannot run the game properly.

But whatever, atleast this gives a hope that after ATI hotfix the game will run better for me.

@Ty. Same here.

Btw, the saves are 10-20MB each. My save game folder was almost 1GB >.< so had to manually delete everything.

Yeah and just like the previous game it creates a new save file every time. Ideally it should overwrite quicksaves and have 3-4 autosave slots in addition to a manual save.
