I am done with this game !! For some reason the game went crazy and its simply impossible for me to play this game without it crashing on me within 5 minutes of me starting the game.

Redownloaded the game overnight but it didn't seem to help.

Aard-pushing enemies,stun etc

Igni-fire on everything

Yrden-it holds anything that steps on it for sometime

Quen- provide blue shield around u for sometime.anything else??

Axii- Used to turn ur opponent against others ( also used during sections to talk people out of fighting u or to extract more info)

so can anyone tell me what axii sign is for during combat and does quen sign do anything else or it just provide u shield during the combat??

I really do like the fighting system, yes it no longer IM A FKING WITCHER GOD like Witcher 1, but it needs a lot more thinking and lot less run and gun tactics.

Once u get going, u can take out large enemies without taking a single hit...bombs, traps, signs and swords. All need to be used in order to succeed

Yeah, the tutorials is really gimped. I can live with that. But the devs are morons for the way they have designed combat here. First of all, removing the options for taking potions during combat is a real bad idea. And 2nd, throwing so many enemies at you and no way of handling them ? The target option which the game provides (target which geralt is looking at chosen I think) is very finicky and more often than not you'll see geralt targeting enemies which are far ahead of you instead of the guy standing in front of you. Its pretty logical that geralt would use some kind of group attack to disperse more enemies at once, instead of taking down one by one. But no, you have to jump and roll around like a rabbit and attack every foe one by one. Call me a whatever , but this is really stupid combat design. I'm using more of traps/bombs and very less swordplay here, which I feel bad about, since its a treat to watch geralt's sword play in action.

Anyway, I've played for only 4-5 hours now. So I guess I've barely scratched the surface, so I'll reserve my comments about the game as a whole. I'm still loving the whole epic-feeling of the setting, the narration, the gorgeous visuals and stuff. The load times have drastically reduced, actually there's hardly any load time now once a quest starts. And even when you reload its max 3-4 secs. Also, I've set the visual setting to ultra, and disabled the ubersampling. The game runs without a hitch. No framerate problems at any place. And I'm using a mid-range gfx card (5850), which is :good: .

ps: Surprised to note that , 16GB doesn't contain the extras. I'm downloading them now (extra 1.5 or so gb).

I agree with the targeting part. It's finicky no doubt but it hasn't really bothered me much. Also, don't fret too much, combat becomes quite easy as you get used to it and level up your skills.

Not letting you drink potions during combat feels like a pain at first but its really not much of a big deal. Almost all potions have lasting effects so you can always gulp them down as soon as you think you're gonna enter a combat zone. Also, they've gimped the potions significantly and unless you go with an Alchemy build you won't get much out of them. The only healing potion which you have at that point (Swallow) is pretty much useless even if you were able to take it during combat. I'm playing on normal and the only potions I really needed were the ones which the plot demanded and a swallow here and there. I've pumped some points into Vitality regen so that pretty much takes care of healing. The combat is well-balanced, it just has a learning curve.

Yes those are out. It's pretty much works like a hack-n-slash game now. There are a few skills in the Swordmaster tree which increase your effectiveness at engaging groups though.

Also the new system is really not meant for a KB+Mouse. I wonder how people are actually playing that way.

Even I'm using kb+mouse :D But yes, I think using analogs to dodge the attacks would be relatively easier than tapping w,a,s,d (space). Is there any way to connect the xbox 360 wireless controller to PC ?

Yup. You'll need to pay Microsoft for a wireless receiver though.

Not sure but AFAIK you can connect a DS3 via USB or bluetooth. Google it.

@sam, combat is not bad at all. It's just not "RPG" enough. It's quite skill-based and almost nothing like The Witcher 1. Anyone coming fresh off it would have a very jarring experience. Witcher 1's combat divided a lot of people as well (especially critics) but most players grew accustomed to it and eventually started liking it.

Yeah me too but many found the non-stop clicking "boring".

@Ne0, why not buy a 360 Controller for Windows? It's a good investment if you're gonna keep playing games on the PC.

You can even buy a normal wired X360 controller, it doesn't have to be the PC-specific one.

I hope the game shows proper prompts for the DS3 though. It has great support for the X360 controller...

I love the game but am getting really fried with the fact that I can't view equipped weapons during trade. That was a real stupid move. Also denoting shops via icons would have made life easier.

Yeah lack of item comparison in the trade screens is a bummer (and is a result of the consolization). As for the shop icons, they are visible on the mini-map but not on the main map if they're closed for the day. Which brings me to another small issue, there seems to be a disconnect between the main map and the mini-map, the don't look identical except while you're indoors.

It kinda sucks how they've nixed many PC-centric features that RPG fans are used to.

I'm talking my sweet time too, but it seems I'm nearing the end after about 25 hours. And here I was expecting an 80+ hour adventure with tons of optional content. Either way, I'm already dying to start a second playthrough on Hard with a different character build. The game seems to be built around multiple playthroughs rather than a single super-long playthrough.
