Keyofx
Wasn't trying to sh*t on your little parade here, cupcake! Anyway, I'm not voting. Just because there were people who you claim died for this opportunity to be bestowed to me, doesn't mean I should treat as a general consensus. I have no moral obligation, that's just how it is. YOU CAN'T VOTE ANYWAY! It's just Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh!

Shantz
I "used to" vote but anyone who I voted for so far thinking he was the better one turned out to be even worse than the last one.. so now I think there is no point in wasting time and energy going to a polling station and stand there for hours and in the end get the same result.. They key in India (in most cases) is to vote for the party and not the person. Its Indian (not just politicians) laziness. Everyone needs to be pushed, and the party is the one that does the pushing. Vote for the party that pushes the most. We can't have individual accountability in a country this big.

Ne0
Wrong as usual. They hated the British why? > Because the British didn't give them a voice/let them decide for themselves/persecution etc. > How do you have a voice/decide? YOU VOTE. Voting is way overrated. It makes absolutely no difference to whom I vote, IF I vote also or not. The pothole on the streets of blore are still there and so are the traffic jams and the never ending metro constructions. You only vote to make yourself feel good that you did something good, while in fact it has made absolutely no difference to the big picture. I wish they had the system of public debates and more stringent requirements (or some basic qualification atleast) to stand for election. /rant. Like I said, it's all relative. Not good or bad, just better. You guys are old enough to know that.. Bangalore is a big city. Hopefully the metro will make things better. No pain, no gain right? You can't just wish-up a pre-built metro system so it saves you traffic snarls. You need to BUILD it.

I'm all up for building a metro. What I hate is the way it is being done haphazardly, without any care for the people who have to commute through the roads on which its being made. Just have a look, the roads on either side have vanished, its dust 24/7 and when it rains.... We pay road tax, infrastructure tax and what not....I know this is a redundant discussion, but really sad to see the condition of our cities, even the most urban ones in today's age and time
Nemo
only 15% indians are civilized, rest are nuisance, if democracy is there for 10 more years, india will be finished are u for real mate ?? if anything its only in democracy that you have the freedom to question it or have a debate over army rule vs democracy. Under a dictatorship/army rule you would be rendered balls-less if u so much as question the totalitarian regime that you so fondly seek. I'm all up for building a metro. What I hate is the way it is being done haphazardly, dunno about bangalore but delhi has benefited immensely frm the metro. hopefully it will be the same in other cities as well. I would just like to take a moment and ask every one to not to cry over what has not been done or observe the pessimistic attitude that every politician is corrupt, yes most of them are but there are some hard working fellows as well. We have come a long-long want in the last 15 years. the infrastructure the facilities etc are near world class in some instances, true there are very little examples of those but there is an improvement. Please do your bit for the nation, go out and vote, have a voice. Just sitting at home and cursing the neta wont do any good.

I wish they had the system of public debates and more stringent requirements (or some basic qualification atleast) to stand for election. /rant. Voting makes a huge difference. The pot holes are there because no one has time to spare to go and complain to his/her local MLA. People assume that it will be fixed but someone has to go and complain first. If you/majority did not vote for congress then congress will not be running the country right now. People in India have this mindset that politicians are useless. Seriously though, they are well educated individuals who have worked very hard to become a leader. Most are over the age of 50 and they have considerable experience under their belt on how to handle a situation. Lalu Prasad Yadav bought Indian railways from loss every year to 100 crore + profit in his 5 year stint as Railway minister. People think he is useless. Manmohan Singh as a finance minister brought India out of socialism in early 1990's into capitalism. Foreign Investments are allowed nowdays because of him. You prob would not be able to play on Xbox live or PSN if it was not for Manmohan Singh. It's not the leaders/politicans (majority of the time) that fail us, it's US/Ourselves to blame upon. Out of the 1+ billion people in India, 700 million live under the poverty line. How many of them are educated? How many of them have a sense to drive on road including literate people? How many accidents happen on road everyday because of careless driving by citizens who end up creating these pot holes? You seriously cannot expect government to keep repairing roads all day long because majority ends up overloading their trucks/vans/cars and crashes into a pole or with another vehicle on the road? I was in Delhi for 5 months from Jan - May this year and I use to travel via metro everyday. At Connaught place metro station, there are CLEARLY lines marked for people to queue into. People form a queue and as soon as the metro comes, people from the back push/rush like there is a Tsunami coming and they need to get in first. I wondered why do people spit on roads after eating paan or ghutka? Do they have paan and ghutka overseas? No, this is why roads/foothpath/public toilets are neat and clean. Is it Indian government's fault? No Voting matters. Commonwealth games are coming to India because majority voted for a sane govt. Everyday you wake up, feel proud to live in a country run by the best people available for the job. Go and vote.
junior
i agree wid karoo ... we would have been a better nation without democracy .WE would have been better if been under a dictator...... we have a HDI rating of 134 out of a total of 182 countries. The higher the HDI, greater is the inequality of income and lower the std. of living. We are amongst the top 10 corrupt countries in the world. The inflation in this country is apparently at wat 4-5 % ... wat no one notices is that here in india we use WPI (wholesale price index) and not CPI (consumer price index)...that gives misleading figures on inflation.... IF we start mentioning inflation in terms of CPI ....it would easily stand closer to 15-20 %
