Keyofx
the Indian bureaucracy problem is that it hinders the not only the growth of private sector but also of national projects as well as state projects. The whole bureaucratic system needs an overhaul. I will avoid political topic, but would just say that not all the politicians are bad, the current problem is with the bureaucracy. True, but we'll come out on top despite it That one child policy TR was talking about is what will screw China. We'll have a huge young population while they're burdened with old people and not enough working adults to pay for them Not to mention Democracy. You CANNOT control the internet. TR is right. Go to China if you want Barbie dolls, because they act like them too.

Keyofx
Culture and religion are two different things. Never ever take them in the same sense But religion is a part of our culture isn't it? Even if you're atheist, a lot of what you learn in terms of behavior from your elders has its roots in religious customs.

Nemo
okey then. this is gonna be long.. I have not read the earlier posts, but has any 1 talked about the bureaucracy in India? that is the place which really needs to be fixed up first if India wants to move ahead the Indian bureaucracy problem is that it hinders the not only the growth of private sector but also of national projects as well as state projects. The whole bureaucratic system needs an overhaul. I will avoid political topic, but would just say that not all the politicians are bad, the current problem is with the bureaucracy. You are correct there that bureaucracy has lagged, a lot, yes but again its the main fault of politicians. The political class treats the civil servants as their pawns to maintain the power. True you will find many corrupt officials but there are an equal no. of good people too. The threat of harassment, frequent undesirable transfers, getting their hand tied down from making a strong decision in fear of it opposing the vote bank etc is a common occurrence in most ministries. I have seen and heard stories form reliable sources the way the current UP cm treats the senior IAS officers, its not a pretty sight. The movie NAIK of anil kapoor might have its funny moments, but the things depicted in there are exactly what happens The problem is many politicians build a competent nexus of their trusted men in the bureaucracy, getting the development to move in the laggy pace. where ever the political class is good, the bureaucracy is good and when the neta is incompetent, its very hard for a right minded bureaucrat to push for the correct stuff. The political class has way too much power imo. our main weakness is democracy and diversity. man.. you are sounding like Klu Klux Klan. I understand its your opinion and you are entitled to it but pegging for cultural/racial segregation is just one step away from having the Nazi mentality of being the superior race, surely you would want hat to happen. It isn't like any of us has owned or fired a gun is it? GS aint alone,

playstation
Come to diversity part. I might get sh*t for this from people but I am an Atheist. India lags because of religion. So much money is poured into religion in India when that money can be used somewhere else which would actually be beneficial to the country rather than building a temple/church/mosque/guruduwara where people can go and pray to a figure which just sits there and does nothing. It does nothing because it's made out of cement and marble. Schools teach theory of evolution but people believe in fairy tales and actually believe that monkey's can fly. Religion is killing India. There are so many customs/traditions that are still performed in small villages and even in big cities (Aishwariya Rai Bachan being a Manglik, first had to marry a tree, then Abhishek Bachan to keep the solar system intact). When you have someone this Hi-Fi doing this sort of crazy stuff, you really expect the country to mature up? Is it Government's fault? bro, i dont think we need to become atheist to grow up ...look bro India's connection with spiritualism has been there i believe ever since humans started thinking about it ... people look towards the church/temples/mosque/gurudwara for strength and peace and you just asking it to shutdown and kinda stop believing that there is any greater source ...people need hope and meaning to their existence and they get to know themselves better through spiritualism in religion(though unfortunately many people have killed the spiritualism in religionism these days)... also coming to your saying that school teach evolution theory but it still cannot answer lot of things yaar ...there is a missing link always ..Human have a curious mind bro they want to know more and not just through school will they come to know of it they look towards other source............and about fairy tale and monkey flying(Hanuman) ...i would just share my thought here Hinduism from what i believe is a religion of a science of infinite knowledge(infinite possibilities) ...many people think of it as just a idol worship religion with some fairy tales and in that way...yaar there is lot more to it....if i am not wrong there are actually lot of research goes into what geeta tries to interpret and that too in western countries . btw also just for info these idols and religious places they dont come up on their own not like its a complete waste of money...this is Big industry the idols that are made for durga pooja here you know people from villages come here to work on this its is a seasonal job for them this is one of the most important way of earnings for them if the agriculture industry is badly hit by drought. playstation
Ya democracy is great my bad, i hope you dont get raped by msn and shivsena, can you even say anything to them? nope they do what they want. That is the reason china has zoomed ahead of india, cuz our main weakness is democracy and diversity. karoo bro, quite some time back(school days) i use to think same way specially about diversity (I dont know if you are pointing out to mughals, christians or bihari, maharastrans) but in both case i would like to share what changed my mind on this diversity case and i started believing it to be the most cool thing to happen....my grandma(she is not more now) and we were having conversation and she started telling me about this story that is part of the pakistan-Sindh province(where my ancestors use to stay before partition) there was this mughal king who wanted to convert everyone on that place to muslim and fearing that hindus went and pray near the river indus i think if i remember correctly and they heard a voice from that river that go and tell the king and that would born a son to so and so person and you try to convert him first..they went and told the king this and he went looking for that boy but he could not find it the king's desperation was growing years passed by finally king got mad and he summouned the hindu people and said convert now or die just then the king got news that boy has been caught ....he asked him to be bought in front of him and he tried to execute him( as i said earlier the place was near the river ) his castle started flooding with the river water and he came to realize that boy was special ..he let them go but asked him about it... the boy said" dont you think allah is not powerful enough to just convert everybody to muslim if he wanted without all this blood shed and all" the king replied ofcourse Allah can do everything , the boy replied " Yes,but Allah does not want to do it coz he loves diversity he loves to see people still loving/caring each other no matter what " the king realized that everyone is special ....... just like to add here bro...trust me life would have been dull if it had not been this diversity imagine your self seeing just one species of plant or bird in India,Imagine your self eating not getting to eat different kind of foods you enjoy , imagine your self on a diwali day with whole of India light up and rest of the year dull(NO EID,BAISHAKI..), imagine yourself not listening to rajasthani folk songs like jabhi dekhu main teri lal pile akhiya main nahi darsoon sa....or gujrati garbhai...kesariyo rang tane lago garba or punjabi song Sohniye ni Sohniye tere naal mai nachana bro, Diversity is awesome thing.....people who may not think like you believe like you but yet share the same love that you hold within yourself. I hope you read it....bohat lambha hogaya. it is for you bro...coz i had same thoughts like you thought of sharing it with you what i learned. Nemo
awesome write up there samurai jack. I agree with you totally here. i love my country and esp so because of the huge diversity we have. we are the most unique country in the world and its an absolute miracle and sheer display of our brotherhood that we have been able to bind it as a nation even when around 40% of the population cant understand the national language. I wont have it any other way, i would never want India to be divided into different sub-nations with their own ethnic agenda, even if it, as according to karoo, means that we take a hit of a decade or two in terms of development. Ne0
While the diversity is good in a way, its also bad. Just look at all the infighting....in my prev company I could see a whole bunch of threads where people from north and south clashed for the silliest of reasons ..... even read the newspapers, people from one region hate people from other. In some states, you are the target of absolute hostility if you don't speak their language. Hell, even local parties stand for elections based on caste and their communities. The only time I see everyone come together in our country is during some national disaster or when bashing pak or during a cricket match in which India is playing. I <3 my country, but there're so many things which are seriously wrong and I feel these are the ones which are holding us back from being great. Its sad to see with so many of the resources available we are still counted among the developing countries of the world. I know posting here doesn't improve anything, but its always good to vent out.
