yup, i did experiment with that, when i removed my ps3 from dmz the Nat status became strict or moderate. when i put my ps3 on dmz again, it became open :ko:

Dmz is the way to go.

Just because it worked for you doesn't mean that the problem doesn't exist :ko:

beetel makes shitty router that will give you a lotta problems in connecting to cod servers

what i am saying is that it is not a problem with the router/modem model but some setting or just your particular piece was faulty.. Because me and many of my friends play fine with the same modem.

Mw2 has this feature in the game when you log on to the mp lobby it shows your nat status as blocked strict or open

and moderate :P

I haven't done any DMZ etc. ever , MP works fine for me for all games on PS3.

What's DMZ anyway ? :ko:

DMZ means De-militarized zone. The router behaves like a bypass filter on all traffic doing un-restricted address translation. So, basically your PS3 is exposed directly to the internet like there was no router in between.

Edit: BTW, it is NOT necessary to go DMZ to play online. Moderate NAT is fine (even strict may be fine in some cases) but then I'm a bit paranoid, so like to give access to only things that need to be accessed.

Its ok for the PS3 shantz, just put the ps3 mac or router ip for it on dmz.

not really.. i dont want to do that because I can play just fine online.. and no one knows when some exploit may be found in PS3. It runs a closed source software after all which no one knows how well it is written...

Shhhhhhhh. Lemme give you an update of the events that happened with me today... :)

Went to the computer shop did a research and found out that Computer Warehouse was selling Dlink 2640T for 3.3k (was the only shop asking for 3.3k others were quoting 3.5-3.6k) Its a ADSL2/2+ modem cum wireless router.

Came home, did all the connections, called up airtel, got all the necessary configurations correct and voila INTERNET is working.

Changed PS3's internet settings to wireless and popped in my mw2 CD.

Fingers crossed.

HURRAY I CAN LOG INTO THE LOBBY AND COULD JOIN A MATCH (did not play though as am already late for work) :D

MORAL OF THE STORY (apart from the fact that now MW2 has costed me 6k with the router headache): BEETEL MODEMS WITH DIRECT WIRED LINK TO YOUR PS3 does not connect to MW2 MP servers...
