arun360
Ayush, Follow the instructions on this page for port forwarding on the Dlink. http://www.portforward.com/english/routers...00/Utorrent.htm Next you'll need to do the same on your modem. http://www.portforward.com/english/routers...BX/Utorrent.htm Follow all the steps and it should work like a charm. ricky87
Are you using a modem+router or a router that connects to your ADSL modem? Its only a ADSL modem which connects directly to my PC using a splitter and ethernet cable.
arun360
T-90, Do you know how to get to the modem configuration page? It is usually 192.168.1.1. Go there and tell me if you have an option called NAT, Virtual Servers or Port Forward.
ayush12ice
Thanks Arun my Beetel modem's config page is different than the given in the guide. It doesn't have any option named NAT. It just has: Device Info DSL Status WAN LAN Password DSL Settings Reboot None of these have NAT option in them

arun360
I'm heading to bed now, T-90. Can you post a screenshot of the options under virtual server settings? Anyone who's forwarded a port should be able to help. Otherwise, I'll check this first thing tomorrow afternoon.

Ne0
Why do you need port forwarding with a modem I thought you needed to do that only if you have a router in between ? BTW, T-90 check the routing section mentioned above in the screen shot. Should have the option to specify port forwarding (if any).
ricky87
I will wait for Arun, he knows how to do this Billy- I dont even know the difference between a router and modem
arun360
T-90, I'm not a 100% sure of this either Like Billy says you could also look in the Routing section if the below steps don't work. For now, let's try this. Do an ipconfig on your pc and note down the IP address. Enter this address in Private IP. Leave Protocol to its default setting. Local Port, enter 17011. Destination port, enter 17011. Click apply. NO WAIT, before you click apply, tell me the other options under ANY PORT. You shouldn't save it with ANY PORT selected. I know the public IP address of my PC, is that what i need to enter? And the options in ANY PORT are: Single port, port range, and safe ports.. and options in Protocol are : Any, TCP, UDP, ICMP also here is what the routing section looks like:
arun360
Okay, I've revised the steps based on your inputs. Start over. 1. Do an ipconfig on your pc and note down the IP address. Start> Run> Type cmd> OK> type ipconfig in the black window> Note down the IP address Enter this address in Private IP. 2. Leave Protocol to its default setting. 3. Local Port, enter 17011. (we'll need to revisit this again) 4. Destination port, enter 17011. 5. Under ANYPORT, select the option Single port. 6. Click Apply. 7. Restart modem, connect to internet, Now check your connectivity as described on the Hosting page. When setting up hosting, you don't need to ask someone to try joining your game to see if it worked - you can check yourself. To do this: 1. Host the game as usual (you don't need to host it on WormNET, a Direct IP game will work too) 2. Minimize the game (by clicking on the bottom of the screen, or pressing Shift+Esc) 3. Open canyouseeme.org 4. Enter 17011 as the port (unless you changed it) 5. Click Check The website will tell you whether your computer is connectable on the port you specified. Remember that this will only work while you're actually hosting a game!
