MightySkate
Well i bought my optical cable for rs. 1200. Didn't have a clue about the brand but it works like a charm so far. Just check if the outer layer is properly done and both ends of the cable are covered. Well the same for HDMI, i got a panasonic one for rs. 2000 (3 meters). You can get cheaper ones also. vinitwins
you need: 1. toslink cable (audio) 2. hdmi cable (for your dvd player) try any neighborhood shop that keeps home av cables and equipment. V ps: you dont need to purchase high-end/branded super-expensive cables

vinitwins
sighh - hdmi transmits both audio and video over a single cable! V
MarketTantrik
HDMI is digital, so you can opt for a cheap cable. As long as the cable is not broken, you'll get crystal clear HDMI signals on the receiver.

vinitwins
if you want surround sound then you'll have to route your signals via the yamaha receiver: 360 video - use bundled component cables to connect to your LCD audio - use a toslink cable to connect to your yamaha rec. DVD player video - use component cables to connect to your ?yamaha rec.? or the LCD audio - use a toslink cable/coaxial cable to connect to your yamaha rec. Yamaha rec what video input/outputs does your yamaha support? V

skdMrk
I have a similar question!!! I have Logitech's Z5300 5.1 speakers connected through my PC, right now i have connected my 360's audio out to line-in in my PC. I want to have full surround sound from 360 through this speaker, what r the options (other than buying a receiver)??? The speaker set doesnt have digital input, in my motherboard (ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe) rear panel there is a SPDIF port, in the motherbaord manual's under the features list it says SPDIF IN/OUT port but inside in the description it says its a SPDIF Out port. Can this port be used for both IN & Out port??? The board also has a SPDIF IN slot for which i need a SPDIF module Is this available in India. I tried asking about this here in bangalore in a few shops, they have no clue about this!!! If any one has this kind of setup please help me out! Someone on the old forum had tried it successfully. This thing is not even available at Amazon or Newegg forget getting it in India. It cost around $150 (around Rs.6000) If i add that to the cost of my existing speaker set, i can buy a new surround sound PC speakers with digital inputs. Anyway Thanks for the help!!!
