Didn't anyone find the controls very awkward?

Why the hell would anyone assign Left thumb stick press to reload and Right thumb stick press for weapon zoom?

You know what? Sometimes it f**king sucks to be right.

This isnt Splinter cell. This is a full on third person shooter with some stealth sections. I would go into details but I am just so disappointed I cant even collect my thoughts into a coherent rant. I had no idea how much I liked this series till today. f**k you Ubi.

Well you get portable EMP generator which is pretty useful. It takes out everything, lights, consoles, com units around you up to certain distance. Oh and there are no NVGs either, think about it when you say its not the Splinter Cell you know and love.

I think the NVGs are still there. You can clearly see that he has the trademark Tristar headgear on. Dhaaped it before going AWOL from the NSA ?

You can also see the electrical vision being activated for a second or two in the video.

The EMP attachment has always been there, I think from the Pandora Tomorrow days. It's always been my most (ab)used gadget in the game, darken everything out and just sneak past like a ninja :fear:.

Fact: Stealth is still very very important. Two hits and you are dead.

SC games never imposed the stealth factor upon you. And except in a few select missions, you could set off every alarm in the map and still not get an automatic mission failure.

What made SC fun and set it apart from other stealth games is that going the stealth way was fun on its own merits without it being forced upon you.

Also, it doesn't feel like you're controlling Sam Fischer. I don't exactly know how to explain it but in the previous games, the character movement was really good. Sam feels different now. Very different! It's not the controls or anything, it's just different somehow.

The way Sam used to move when crouched was amazing! The character felt fluid and tight. Does anybody feel the same way? That is, if you understand what I'm trying to convey.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that the game is bad; 'cause who knows, maybe Ubi is holding back some really good stuff.

Though I kinda doubt it.

He moves way too fast. Even when he is crouching. But thats the least of the problems. Infinite ammo, being able to see through walls, not being able to sneak past most of the guards, no non lethal options, auto aim and auto shoot, a GIANT indicator on your head to let you know when you are exposed, last known position...etc etc. This is like Splinter cell for casual Wii gamers.

Hell I took cover behind a crate and took out 7 guards without breaking a sweat. That. Is. Not. Stealth.

Afaik that EMP attachment was for pistol in CT, which let you take out lights without wasting bullets or alerting guards. And it was only temporary, the light would come on after few seconds, so you had to move fast. It was mostly abused in MP by what they called 'aggro spy'.

Here what you get is EMP generator (in addition to EMP grenades), and one blast from it takes out everything, permanently.

Exactly, there's something 'wrong' with his crouch movement, I know cause I played all previous Splinter Cell games while crouched 90% of the time. Standing upright or running full sprint was a strict no-no. Here the movements feel too restricted and robotic, especially when you see how swiftly he moves while switching covers. Its like they spent all their time animating cover-to-cover movements, assuming thats how the player would want to play.

I think it was pretty obvious from the earliest Conviction screenshots/info (with the hobo Sam Fisher) that the game wouldn't be like the earlier Splinter Cells. It clearly seemed Bourne-inspired with more emphasis on action than stealth. And even though I haven't played it yet, I'm not one bit surprised at how the demo turned out to be. Also, I don't mind the change in direction as long as it's fun to play and Sam Fisher gets to act all badass.
