Yeah, but does it love you like a brother.

Well.

Does it.

I like to believe that he does. I take very good care of him. Open him up, clean him out every now and then, play a few of the old titles that teh next gen will never see. Yup.

And on your situation, why not sell the replacement and buy a new unit from Croma with their extended warranty?

To my understanding, Sony India isn't allowing any retail store to sell PS3s with an extended warranty. I believe this was even mentioned by the Big Bose himself. But maybe I heard wrong.

Otherwise, yes - once we get the replacement, the logical thing to do is sell it and try to buy another console with extended warranty. Maybe even make it a Slim one. Speaking of which, what's the failure rate on those so far?

u only lose your save files and game data (install, patches etc). you can easily take a back-up of your saves on a mem card or on a pen drive. everything else is synced to your a/c. your psn purchases, trophy data etc etc & can be easily restored on a new ps3

your a/c details aer saved on an internal flash memory, so even if you change the HDD the a/c details & console settings will remain

some saves are locked. cant copy them. yea.

wen i replaced my hdd.. i had to do a complete restore from backup.. i dont think the console 'remembered' itself. :majesty:

I don't think croma offers an "Extended warranty" per se or atleast not a sony one.. It's more like an insurance or store warranty, that they will take care and pay for it if anything goes wrong.. Sony doesn't get involved in that...

before submitting over to them you can do whatever you want.......but once you hand over them then you cant do sh*t.....

Ya but the point here is it's dead, and we can't (or don't intend to at least) do sh*t with a dead ps3 which is under warranty. :P

@Keez: How much warranty is left? If it's not much, may be you can try fixing it yourself. At least you'll have a working PS3 back sooner.
