Torchlight

Chipped in a couple of more hours and this is proving out to be more fun than I expected. Its really a simple game where there's just loads of combat involved amidst exploring tons of dungeons. And as ty said there are not many quests you can get from NPCS(atleast that's the case till now), heck there ain't even much interaction you can do with the NPCS. Your on your own most of the time exploring the vast mines below Torchlight. Also, as ty pointed out you can even buy custom maps from the gem seller at town n also wandering merchants whom you encounter in the mines for additional dungoens for you to explore. There's also a guy in town who gives you quests and opens up portals to deeper parts of the mines for you in order to complete them.

The pet is a tough nut to crack, he has not died yet, but even I have not died yet. :P

Also, there are waypoints which you can enable for fast n comfortable teleportation to and from Torchlight . I have activated the first one just now.

Here are few downers I have encountered in the game till now.

Item selling price is really really cheap man.

The boss fights needs to be more exciting, there are ton of other small minions along with them which makes the fight dull n confusing. :(

There are HEAPS of loot scattered everywhere and this can get tedious sometimes as inventory space is really limited and you have that urge to collect everything. :P

Apart from these, I have not found any other major deterrent yet and I must warn you people that this game can get really addicitve in no time coz of its fast-paced combat.. Its insane fun. M off to explore some more now. :)

Cheers!

You'll get access to a skill later that improves trading and prices. Not sure if it applies to other classes but my Alchemist has it.

Boss fights are EASY on normal. Then again, the whole game is easy on normal.

Yeah, the loot gets piled up very quick and the stacks aren't always easy to read. Like it said, I don't even pick up 90% of the stuff now unless it's rare or unique.

Reached lvl 30 btw

Not really. I've found some pretty sweet equipment via drops (which I can always improve with further enchantments too). My only complaint (which isn't even really a complaint) is that you find great items every 5 seconds, especially after lvl 25, making it very tedious to sort/sell loot. Good thing the pet is around to run back to town.

There's also a "shared stash" where you can store equipment which is not applicable to your current class but can be used by another character you create later. So if you find a badass sword but are playing as an Alchemist, you can always put it in the shared stash and your Destroyer can use it later. Pretty nifty.

i think you missed the point. you can get an item at level 4 which can be enchanted over and over to the point where it is good enough to complete the entire game. that's what makes further drops kind of pointless. that's why i said the drop system is broken, and not the enchanting system (subtle difference  )

Okay point taken. The enchantment system does work perhaps a little too conveniently. And it's also relatively inexpensive. I'm sure it will be addressed in a patch, the gameplay has some other minor balance issues as well.

So I've not played older RPGs like Diablo and I didn't really like the whole Point and Clock isometric way of playing but this game has changed my way of thinking. It's really simple and I'm totally digging the game's art style. Like Cyborg said the game's really easy even in normal bu that's cool. I'm still getting my bearings on the control scheme since I'm so used to WSAD.

Also fk man, this game begs for co-op. It would have been epic if they at least plan on implementing it in the future.

The possibilities of a co-op mod are already being looked into by the community. In fact, I believe a working concept has already been presented just after a week of the game's release.

Also, the latest patch is now available. Load times seem a bit faster for me now. Thanks Runic!

@nash, You may want to give Diablo II and Lord of Destruction a try. The game holds up even to this day and it's hands down the best action-RPG you'll ever play, if you can get past the 2D graphics (which aren't so bad really). Also try TitanQuest and it's expansion. They're quite cheap now I think.

Isometric hack-n-slash action RPG is probably my favorite genre (alongside traditional DnD type RPGs and survival horror) and I honestly can never get enough of it.

You have Titan Quest? I don't mind giving it a shot if I have some one to co-op with.
