My friend's 8yr daughter happily went through a root canal, n this is the same dentist who operated upon her. So my odds r quite good, the father of the girl is a doc n he just told me the injection is the most painful part n that too hurts for just a few seconds, after that u don't feel a thing.

So the comforters were right all along, let's have a clan match on UC2.... Comforters vs The Naysayers :D

I've never had to go to a dentist in my life until I thought about getting braces... My teeth were quite alright except for the top row having a very slight outward angle. Negligibly small, but noooooo i wasn't happy :D

Went and got braces and the dentist had to pull out 4 of my perfectly normal teeth. This was 2 years ago. And the anesthetic he used - that poking with a syringe two three times bit - that was the most painful... I felt a sudden series of pokes with the needle. Then mouth started going numb. Didn't feel any pain when the teeth were pulled out, but at that anesthetic application moment, i was like "Oh God I'm going to die" ... started getting dizzy and felt like throwing up and what not... :D

The dentist asked me to take some rest in the waiting room and dumped half a box of Glucose (yummmm.. :) ) down my throat too.. He later said "Its usually the sons and daughters of doctors who have trouble with needles... and once again hes proved it". I don't ever have a problem with needles (get bitten and scratched by dogs and cats regularly - so Anti-Tetanus and Rabipur injections are a monthly affair since my Dad's a surgeon), but then with this one set of injections inside my mouth, it was like the end of the world for me at that moment :D

That was during my first appointment to pull out two teeth. Then the next time (two more teeth to be pulled out) I didn't do any of that crazy stuff.

True Story. :harhar:

Hey Gaurav that's inspiring.. i am spooked by needles too but if it means the rest of the operation is painless... i'm more than happy to take 2 of 'em :)

Now needles is why i keep a safe SAFE distance from dogs and cats however cute they appear

@babj1.. thanks mate, ive been through my share of tetanus injections.... if this LA is similar in pain to them, np then. BTW, i will *hopefully* be getting some numbing gel applied before the injection itself.

Update !!!!

Just got back home from the dentist.... guess what? peeing is more annoying than root canals

Got the numbing gel applied before the anaesthesia injection.... never felt the needle one bit. After that, didn't feel a thing during the entire operation..... NOT ONE THING :P I should have carried my 360 to complete the last mission of GTA IV that i have been unable to beat for the past 1 1/2 yr :(

This guy is a genius.... while waiting outside in the reception i was literally trembling. When he called me in, i just told him i'm gonna die out of fear/pain so go for broke on the anaesthesia.... he just said "If u feel pain, will u come back to me again? I also have to run my practice" and the kinda-cute "female" assistant started giggling... I jaan-booch ke made some whimpering noises while he was injecting the LA just for fun... but never really felt the darn needle. Rest is history :ban: Cuuldn't believe when the assistant asked me to get off the chair... i asked her is this thing over. The doc replied in a matter of fact way "yes". I had to sheepishly confirm will the next sitting for the filling be painful? Require anaesthesia?. They just smiled... i knew the answer :D

Am going tomorrow morning for the second tooth-ka root canal... All the mumbai folks, anyone want to do an RC and not sure where to go... hit me up... Not trying to advertise this dentist... but he really is a Miracle Worker!!! :fear:
