kunallkw
@kunal: I was reading on a forum last night that you can use an electrical cleaner (whatever that is) and apparently its a liquid that goes in between your keys that cleans out any dust/dirt around the connectors. Now, this wont completely clean out the stuff under the button but it should keep the connectors clean to allow for better contact with the board. And your not the only one having touchpad button issues, seems to be a plague going around. thanks buddy ... even i did a bit of research before posting here seeing there's only people cursing the manufacturer and no possible fixes to the issue apart from a dismantle or paying extra and get it replaced for an Out of warranty case. that liquid trick you mentioned i've read on that as well and it's not foolproof because it's not certain if it's actually dust or just a worn out key because left is used more often than right (no double meaning here) and the vacuum/compressed air thing won't work either again for the same reason as above + i've already mention the design of the key it has an edged out border below the upper surface of the palm rest which prevents it from popping out so no matter how much i squeeze the nozzle i'll never make it that thin to fit in. i'll try dell CC and figure the costs or else live with it until it dies and then look for a replacement or just use my USB mouse thanks again

But the thing is my cousin would be going to Hong kong next week and the MBP is around 50k there compared to 72k+taxes here... Also that laptop in HK is from apple store.... Also i have seen on macrumors that there will be all new macbook pro in april so should i wait as there might be a new processor on the MBP... prakhar
Hey guys i just called up Dell India, the agent was sweet and had a lovely voice. She offered me 5% corporate discount for Dell XPS 15 i5 for 6 cell battery version. So as of now the deal i am getting is MRP = Rs 50,400 inclv of taxes + Rs 900 Delivery Charges = Rs 51,300 - Rs2565 (5% on Rs 51300 ) = Rs 48735 , Delivery time 7 days. So should i go for the deal and also 9 cell battery is for Rs 1571. But in the customisation section its giving me as only primary battery. I want the 9 cell batt as additonal battery So i want to know should i go for 6 cell version or 9 cell version. Also if i buy the 9 cell battery from outside in Delhi, How much will it cost me ? Between agent se mast mast baatein kar raha tha. Idhar udhhar ki.

Mel81x
i thin the Dell is a nice option for the price and no one can really tell how the laptop life is going to be. One day its working fine and tomorrow it may just burn out on the screen or ull have issues with the HDD but thats all about luck imo. Good purchase and good luck with it, the last time I used anything Dell was a monitor and then I chucked it and got a BenQ instead - I am happy with it. @kunal: your welcome and I'd use a USB mouse if you really really dont want to use/fix the trackpad/buttons

KWC
Can't stress this enough.. Get additional warranty!
kunallkw
+1 to additional warranty 3 years complete cover during purchase comes at one year's post warranty renewal cost. wise choice would be to discard the 9cell and get complete cover or get both. and dell is seriously going downhill with their design flaws in almost every hardware equip that they are making . Lenovo and Acer are a good option as well , but brand image puts blinkers on the customers

mixke
HDMI out? Nah re, S/PDIF out. I guess you will only see those standard ports for connecting headphones etc. But somewhere in your audio settings, you will see if you have digital out or not. supersim
Well it's just me & Dell. Have seen 10.. frigging 10 Dell laptops (not mine.. different friends who went with Dell just because everybody was buying them) break down within 3 months.. Some had trackpad problems, others had loose hinges, still others display issues, kaput motherboards etc etc. Maybe it's just me & Dell, but I wouldn't buy any of their's even if they were the last company running :| .. I still remember the horror on my face after seeing Dell Studio when it was launched. I mean that thing was fugly, and it'as supposed to be a flagship product. I aint saying other brands don't have issues, but not as much as Dell. One of my seniors uses an Acer & while I feel the build quality is downright pathetic, he never had any problems with it whatsoever since buying it. Personally been using a HP since early 2007 & apart from the battery going bonkers (due to a fault of my own), never had any issues with it.. And I treat it like hell nowadays just so that it goes down & I can get a new one ! My dell is still going strong after 2 years. Not one niggle Not even a battery change
