Okay, so here are your options...again

1. Lenovo Y50 and Y510. Major difference: Y50 has GTX860, Win8.1, better sound while Y510p has GTX770, Win 8, Dual Microphone and Intel Wireless Display (WiDi). Decision is upto you, check at store live.

2. Asus G750JM > G750JX. Both are 17" though.

3. Toshiba's R9 265X. This graphic must be equal to GTX760 (not sure as benchmarks are yet to showup). Comparing for you so that you may know where it stands as per Nvidia cards (GTX ones). (And 860>760, so like 860>760>=265)

4. Sony Vaio Flip has flip lid, touch, 15" FHD, i5 4200, GT 735, Win8, at 70k. You can game for like 30min on it, like time pass. The best touch you can get with best style, innovation award 2014. For show-off + decent performance.

123 are for gaming purposes only. If you are not much into gaming on office lappy then you look for lappies like sony flip, lenovo yoga n all.

I think I have summed up all laptops, phew...satisfied or kuch chuut gaya kya?

If you have something else in your mind, do say it. And go checkout some lappies live tomorrow. If u find anything good, ask here on sunday night :)

All Windows8 users have the option to upgrade to 8.1, highly recommended.

Mobile GPU chipsets are generally weaker even if in the numeric order they are placed higher.

Also, the GTX860 does not exist on desktops because it is an OEM chip available only to laptop and pre-assembled desktop retailers.

Finally, most mobility GPU chips are just differentiated by firmware / model number changes, not actually new chips.

So buyer beware and do check up individual details on Notebookcheck.net before committing to any particular chip purely on its description.

1. Mobile gpu are weaker than ____?If the blank is Desktop variants then I know that, he is buying a lappy so doesnt mattr i write 860M or 860, he aint gonna get 860 and he must know that too. (jus debating/replaying, not being rude)

2. So like what does firmware change mean? upgrading to like 22nm to 14nm? When I bought mine lappy, it has GT630 bt no kepler architecture, jus old 540 one. This is what you meant??

:scratchchin:

Than the desktop equivalent by comparison of model number.

A firmware flash generally just changes a couple of things like the updated naming convention on older chipsets. Like in your current laptop, it say GT630M but in actuality it is only a GT540M with a firmware flash. The performance numbers are the same, same or lesser features.

A change from 22nm -->14nm would be a fabrication node jump, even if the old architecture is used the performance will come with a smaller power consumption penalty. This is what generally happen when PC components naming conventions shift. Although in some cases like the recent nVidia and AMD releases for the past two-three years the naming convention changes are really just a formality and price-drop with little actual advancement in technology or jumping fab nodes.

I came across this ultrabook and it seems that it would suit my needs perfectly... good battery life, Full HD display, touchscreen, ability to play old 2008-10 games, 13.3" screen.

Asus Zenbook UX 302 LG

What do you guys think about this? I think it's available in India as I saw it on the Asus India website but unable to find out its pricing :scratchchin:

Just checked one review site where the price is around 95k.. Hmm

@Draka: Yeah, I saw the Toshiba R930 and it has good specs... but it looks really bad :fear:

Also, yeah Lenovo Y510p is a good option too...

Too expensive in my opinion, might as well pick up a Mac Air if you are going into that territory.

The base Y510p with a 4th Gen Core i5 / i7 should be great for your in that case.

Checked out reviews of the Lenovo Y50 and it seems quite big and also has the number pads on the keyboard :scratchchin:. Also as per reviews, it has a pretty bad viewing angle and the screen is literally like a mirror with a lot of glare issues.

Vaio Flip 15 seems to be a good option at 70k and has got good reviews... you feel that's the best option?

OMG.....Dude, dont take me seriously. I aint IT/CS guy, gaming my hobby.....

Ask Alpha n others, see what they say. (You wont have to ask, he/they will read n reply to my comment :P )

I mean, looks good to me plus dont buy it tomorow. Share your experience.

As for your ques, I think its best becuz no other company is offering anything better.

Again, take ur time...5min..think what u want and be careful, even Pro's regret sometimes. Get your priorities numbered of what u really want in ur business lappy. And ultrabooks are good for documents n all, dont go heavy on it else it will burn. I got 55k lappy, the day it was launched..Asus k55vm, I have heated up to a point beyond repair. 2 times my graphic changed (for free tho), 1 time keybrd, dusting every 2 months necessary, need to turn that air conditioner on.....its jus 2 yrs and i need a new one alrdy. Sigh. :samui:

EDIT: Alpha is awake n aint replying. Ok, lemme ask this way:- Alpha17 'Would you Kindly' share something about Vaio Flip that I mentioned? :notangel:

Who remembers that Epic 'Would you Kindly?' quote? :exoticdance:

Dude of course I am using your comments as a reference since you guys know your stuff... I am not taking it as gospel or anything.

I have seen a lot of videos regarding Vaio Flip 15 and I am quite impressed by it... you guys also have seen its reviews and stuff and hence I was asking you guys for suggestions.

Only problem is the Vaio Flip 15 is not available on display as per Sony Centre. I can only order it and buy it but can't see it on display... hence I need to be sure about it.

As per Sony centre?? You mean at Sony showroom? If it aint there then you go to Croma, Jumbo n all. Or is it on display no-where?

Hi Engadget! Was thrilled to find a Sony Flip-Review - only to see you didn´t choose the most interesting contender: the flip 13 to compare with all the other upcoming ultraportables of this season. Hope you do a review soon!
Wanna buy a new laptop / multi-functioning WIN8 device and it´s a tie between: *Flip13*, *Yoga 2* (though the keys-on-your-lap-thing is distracting) and *Surface Pro 2* (darn, hate the design of the Cover - absolutely no space around the keys makes for terrible typeing, but at least Wacom-pen). The *Dell Venue Pro 11* looks interesting too (swappable battery!). Though if nothing comes out on top battery-wise (at least 6 better 8 hours + standard use) as well as versatile and very portable... I`ll actually have to consider the *Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus* as well as well as the *MacBook Air (13-inch, 2013)* again. So hoped for a cool combination device, but will go with quality and well-approved awesomeness... any further tipps?! Much appreciated!

Something like,Vaio goes to JIP and might be PC goes to Lenovo. Since it has gone to JIP, it will only be in Japan.....but there are other factors mixed in too.

So what does all this mean for VAIO customers? That depends on which route Sony plans to take. If Sony were to retain some ownership, customers should still receive the same level of assistance with technical issues, and buyers should still see the same quality and innovation that makes the VAIO name popular.

Should Sony really be in a selling mood, VAIO fans might not have anything to worry about if Lenovo picked up Sony's PC business. After all, Lenovo purchased the notebook business from IBM and so far hasn't disappointed even the most faithful of ThinkPad fanatics.

Well, whatever be the case, dont buy Vaio then, risky atm. Look for other hybrids in the list or go for high performance laptops(which is looking like y510 lineup is the best atm)
