ALPHA17
If you are going to pick up a laptop for your primary needs (plus gaming), following are the priorities, GPU (get the best you can in your budget) + CPU (the higher the generation, the better especially from a thermals and efficiency viewpoint) SSD (if you are spending over ~$1000 plus, a 120GB SSD is a must, plus options to add more storage if possible) RAM (more is best, also, if you have options to add more down the line, even better) Thermal design Quality of life improvements (easy to access storage and RAM modules, for self servicing and upgrading of device, international warranty) Rest Another point, ASUS has international warranty on its RoG line-up so keep that in mind when picking up a notebook. G-Sync would be a good thing to have but not a necessity considering the requirements for a better GPU and more importantly it will easily increase the cost of the device. A 120Hz monitor sans G-Sync if possible is still a good thing to have. Also, most newer generation notebooks are coming with decent cooling solutions in the slim form factor but they are limited to smaller batteries and more thermal cap on performance vis-á-vis the more bulky designs. So keep that in mind too. Hope this helps and welcome to the forums. P.S. -- Shifting thread into appropriate section.

TyrannosaurHex
For those into gaming laptops, recommend checking this out as well: http://www.amazon.in/Azom-15-6-inch-Laptop-i7-6700-Graphics/dp/B00TWFPRQ6?ie=UTF8&ref_=cm_aya_orig_subj Though product description mentions the M versions of GPUs, they have 1060/1070(desktop grade) available in laptops as well. Many of the user reviews claim components to be upgradable, since they are screwed and not soldered to the MoBo. It could be difficult though if the form factor changes for next generation of components incl. GPUs. Even 1080 is a different form factor than 1070. PhantomShade
I plan to buy a Macbook but dont know which to buy Im looking at Macbook Air 13"(i5/8gb/128gb) which costs 62k or so or Macbook Pro 2012 ( i5/4GB/500GB ) which costs 52k if i get the pro i will upgrade the RAM to 8GB and add the 128GB ssd used currently by my PC(on the PC I need a 250GB ssd anyway),and replace the Diskdrive with the HDD caddy and put the 500GB HDD there, totalling to around 58k or so aside from the specs difference MBA has slightly higher res display and better battery life(11 hours on MBA vs 7 hours on MBP2012) my usage will be around 5-6 tabs in chrome with youtube videos along with Intelli J IDEA(it's an IDE for Java) and a couple of vm's running windows or linux(the linux ones will be CLI only mostly,so no much resource usage i would presume) absolutely no gaming/photoshop/finalCutX usage
Walker
Need to pick up a laptop for work. Budget 50k. Laptop will be running approx 10 tabs in browser out of which 2 tabs run spreadsheets, 2-3 local excel sheets with approx 2000-2500 entries, and will be mostly running for 10-12 hrs a day nonstop. Desktop is out of the question as it will also need to be portable. I currently use an A8,4GB,1TB laptop. Suggestions? If you are open to notebooks based on AMD's APU platform like your last one, you can get it sorted under ~40,000/-.

Totally open to AMD's APUs, in fact I'm wondering if bumping up the RAM to 8 in my existing notebook would help. Currently it gets slow when working with the spreadsheets, so not sure if its the A8 or ram or a combination of the two.

ALPHA17
^ Interesting, add another module of RAM in that case and see if that sorts you out because that is way too fast a cycle rate for a notebook.

BTW any way to check if both slots are being used in 2gb+2gb or 4gb with one free without opening it up?
ALPHA17
You can do that by using CPU-Z.
Walker
You can do that by using CPU-Z. Ok sir. Lemme check that and get back. Edit: Alright its 4gb in slot 2 so I'll add another 4 and see how it goes. Should have another 4gb DDR3 in an older laptop. Let's hope this works Edited March 11, 2017 by Walker
