vbhoj74
IP-PBX: Its a PBX which runs on Internet Protocol (IP), yes like your IP Phone at office. These systems are much advance and powerful than traditional systems. Apart from the standard feature that it offers, it has stuff like "follow me", VM being mailed to you, and loads which can only be experienced. You can carry your phone (software based or hardware device) with you out of your office or homes when you travel and hook it to available internet connection, it gives you same phone services when at your home city. Remember, since all calls happen on your data network/internet pipe, thus the cost is from free to almost nothing. This is exactly the reason why Trai has limited the merger of VOIP and PSTN so that our present voice service providers dont loose on revenue. Now Trai cant keep holding a technology since its the future and is fast becoming defacto standard across the world, so its being considered by them to reverse the rules. On the other hand, an IP-PBX that our corporates maintain, is a costly buy, now I'm trying to put a similar system at much cheaper cost for homes, SOHO (small office home office) and SMB (small to medium business) segment. But this is only a testing and RnD project till TRAI really open the gates (expected in a years time after 3G auctioning). This is because the potential of Voip is defeated in India till its interfaced with the PSTN network. So staying within the guidelines, we will try and build up a robust PBX that all of us Indians can afford and be ready when the time comes. For the times, I need friends, volunteers, who are adventurous, not necessarily into IT, as it will relate to testing of calling through the PBX among us and testing the features.
