roseslikeu
Do a PORT FORWARD for your modem/router & open the required PSN ports.

Tyler
since this seems to be sortta related... i need to get a wi-fi router... recommendations for playing online with the ps3? thnx What bul says... I have been trying FOREVER to get my PSN to work properly with wi-fi. And even after a year I still have no luck. It works for a while but it's not long until random DNS errors start popping up. I have scoured the internet and tried every single thing. I guess the only option I have now is to try a different router. There's now way I can run a network cable to where my PS3 is at. On the other hand, I have absolutely no issues with the 360 on which I connect to the internet using wi-fi too.
Phoenix Wright
On the other hand, Wi-fi runs perfectly fine for me. No issues at all. @Tyler: Aren't you using Airtel 2mbps? You have that black wi-fi router, right?
Tyler
No I use a Netgear router. It didn't come with my connection.
Phoenix Wright
Ah, I see. I've never had any problems with the black Beetel box, so I thought it was a bit odd.
dabba
then can i get a wi-fi router which also has a 2nd lan port? also if i need to do a sign in, i assign the ip address to the wi-fi router n can i log in from the router itself?? so that i can keep the pc switched off... thus randomly switching between pc/laptop/netbook/ps3 without having to login from each, since the wi-fi router is already logged in? Of course you can. You don't have to switch on the PC. Just the modem/router. Also, all routers come with extra LAN ports.

Phoenix Wright
If you have a web-based sign-in, you'll have to keep your PC switched on, unfortunately. I could be wrong, though.

Tyler
I don't know what you guys are talking about. Once you set up your wi-fi router. It connects to internet as long as it's hooked to the modem/internet. The configuration is done via the router's set up page and is one time only. You don't need to sign in again to be able to connect. As long as you enable secure access and set up the WEP key, you're safe. Most routers come with detailed manuals. If you follow them you should be able to set up your wi-fi network easily. A networking n00b like me could do it in 15-20 minutes. After that you just need to turn on the modem and router. Any WAP-enabled devices will automatically detect the wireless connection and try to connect. All you need to do is enter the WEP key and you're set.
