nash
Maybe it's because I'm not a Transformer fan but I don't see the big deal with this game. Played it for an hour and it seemed like a generic third person shooter - with transformations.
nash
Yeah that's probably it. It's fanservice. For someone like me who's grown up watching the series and has owned my fair share of the toys it'll be a different trip. Maybe but I noticed a lot of journalists comparing this game to AA in a way that it could do for the TF franchise what AA did for Batman. And even though AA catered to its fans it appealed to a wider range of gamers thanks to its strong gameplay mechanics. I don't see that with this game. It's very basic. And boring. It was sure as hell generic, but then the transformations were pretty cool, the story was nice and the environments if a bit dull would be a treat for any TF fan.. Keyofx
Grabbed my copy from the hut for around Rs. 2200 for the X360. Fun times ahead. So did I. This and Just Cause 2 for a bargain. @nash: I think most of the kicks (for fans) will come from picking out references in the in-game banter. Distractions like that may make up for the boring levels. First we crack the shell, then we crack the nuts inside.
Keyofx
^^ But then the strength of a license can only carry a game so far. The same thing happened with High Moon's Bourne game, except that had really interesting+bright levels.
Keyofx
Let's see when we actually play the game yes? Do you need to 'actually' watch an Uwe Boll film? Right.
Keyofx
Oh I forgot. Your console of choice is YouTube. So much for that. How is this even relevant to the conversation? It was going pretty well
cognac-vsop
i dont think when ppl compared this game to batman AA, they ment it was as good as AA. what they ment was that, what AA did for batman, this game does for the Transformers. cause both the brands had pretty shitty games in the past. fans allways wanted a great game they could be proud of, but never got it, AA was the best batman game so far, & this is the best Transformers game out so far. plus batman i feel is alot more accessible to the mass. there are only a few main characters in that game, where as here you got tons of robots & the whole back story is large & can be fairly confusing to a newbie. i guess Thats why fans of the series have loved the game soo much, where as ppl who arent fans, dont really get what the big deal is.. when your a Transformers fan, you see this game from a diff prospective then from someone who isnt. like for me ive had way more fun playing this than playing Red Dead Redemption. I'm not denying the fact that High Moon have gone all out to please fans but like Keyofx said there's only so much fan service can do. So yes they may have nailed the TF lore pat down, but I was talking simply from a gameplay standpoint. Maybe the reason this game got high scores initially is because fans of the franchise (a lot of whom are journos) are so starved for a good TF game they turned a blind eye towards gameplay. I'm just saying. In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king after all.
