Batman: Arkham City

Completed the game yesterday. Kinda abrupt ending. Some of missions dont make any sense.

And why the f**k does Talia take Joker with her instead of killing him there itself and rescuing Batman. She could have killed him easily. But no, she takes him with her, and kills him as soon as Batman reaches to the place. Then there are some missions which make Batman look like a masked Errand Boy. Batman, if you want this, then go do this, then again go do that. Bah.

As a Batman fan, I give this game 9/10. Add Batmobile, make it Gotham City instead of a short island, give us Batcave control and throw in some more villains and further improve the combat by giving better camera angles, and the 3rd game will be 10/10.

As a gamer who is not a great Batman fan, I will give the game 8/10.

Also, the bugs. My game data got corrupt for no reason and game refused to start. I had to delete and install the game data, and download the Catwoman DLC again. Also had a couple of freezes.

@ ambar

if by that you mean an open end batman game (read:gta) then i will be the first to say that it will not work. reasons-

*the game will have to be in night all the time, batman does not venture out in daytime.

*it would be monotonous as batman doesnt have superpowers, half the fun in superhero games like spiderman, hulk and infamous which are open world is using the super powers with gay abandon.. there is only so much batrang throwing i can enjoy, and no.. giving bats ridiculous gadgets, making him some sort of james bond is not the solution.

*batman does not cause harm to people, so careless destruction of the city as in huk or infamous is out of bounds.

so in all, keep the game linear and keep it fun.

Yeah, valid points. But there was a Batman game that did all that (it sucked though, driving, fighting, everything was horrible) Still there is hope with Rocksteady. I need Batcave and Batmobile atleast.

And ZOMG the side missions are so fun. Really makes you feel like Batman. This can be GOTF. I just cant stop playing it.

Loved the opening three missions. Arkham City is really quite a re-creation in this game, extremely detailed and colorful. Looks more like New Orleans than a prison camp.

Unfortunately, i started on HARD difficulty. Melee combat against more than three to four enemies at a time is really, really difficult :wallbash:

After completing the game, I have to say it's really a missed opportunity. They have not at all used the open environment of the game. Like someone said for Rage, all the main story missions take place in closed environments only few side missions realy use the open world. They have certainly improved the boss fights in this iteration but tendency of throwing 20-30 goons at a time during story missions is still there. But somehow I still feel they need to work on the detective part of batman. The game still feels much more like a brawler than a batman game gameplay wise. In fact I liked the side missions more than the story ones this time.

Overall it's a improved game and very addictive one, I think I have done around 20 hours till now :)

Yes, its pretty similar to Rage. You have to visit the same locations repeatedly, you have to do some errands forgetting that you are the GODDAMN BATMAN etc. Only thing is that driving is replaced by gliding and shooting replaced by brawling with gadgets. And this game has a better story and having already established characters makes one forget the shortcomings.
