Batman: Arkham City

Leave it guys , we will see him again in Arkham City and probably a lot more intense & appropriate fight. :P

I actually liked the Croc part , yeah it was very easy but it had a chill factor , green slimy sewers and and crouching was a nice bit of a change than usual indoor fighting , but I was kinda surprised that a single batrang could take him out every time. :giggle:

Oh it was, no one can deny that. Heck entire game was repitative, I hope they add some variety.

All AA had was, jump in a room/area, scan bad guys, destroy them stealthily OR take them head on. Variety was Oh there are some fumes around so dont jump on the floor, Oh there are some plants around so dont go near them, Oh there are some mad inmates who come straight at you, Oh there are some snipers who can only see where the laser points.

Only scarecrow levels offered some respite.

Then the Boss fights, first a single Giant and few minions, then two, then 3. And dont even get me started on final boss.

Yes, those were great, but I got the game for SP, so did almost everyone.

batman does not kill. period. so entering a room, scanning and silent takedowns were the best and most authentic ways. the croc fight was perfect. batman in comics never goes a full on opening a can of whupp a*s on croc as he is no match for the mutated freak h2h. its always a few punches and then luring him to a trap. i see where you are going, the game had no guns (rightly so) and cause of that many people are 'teh disappoint'.

see it from a batman fan's perspective, the game delivered in spades. a true to the character batman. yes the enemy variety was low, that i will give you and the final battle was a bit let down (with EPIC ending dialogue by bats though) and they will improve on the sequel, AA being their first outing.

But in no way can you call the game repetitive. scarecrow missions, riddler puzzles, random joker monologues (mark hamill ftw) random batman homages in trophies and surroundings, clayface cameo.

+1. Sometimes people are overly critical about games, so much that they forget to enjoy them. Face it - all games have flaws and at some point get repetitive no matter how much variety they have. Good games are all about how the different elements come together to create a seamless fun experience. BAA did that. It mixed hack-n-slash (or in this case punch-n-kick) combat with metroidvania-style progression and puzzles, stealth etc. It's also one of the very few games that makes in-game collectibles worth looking for. Add to that a great narrative, voice acting and stylish visuals and you have a game that's very difficult to dislike. If you still didn't like it then you're an extremely difficult person to please and more than 80-90% of the games out there won't appeal to you.

People keep picking on the Croc fight but that was just a small part of a much larger game. It's like saying I hated Half-Life because the Residue Processing level sucked (which IMO it did, but it didn't make HL1 a bad game at all).

well said. I loved the croc fight, people bitching about it probably expected batman to pull out a rocket and walk out of the dungeon with some shiny new leather shoes :|

Can you give us one example of a "non-monotonous" game?

God of War 3, MGS4, Assassin's Creed 2 etc etc.

I do agree that it was the best Batman game till date and provided ultimate Batman experience. But I found it repetative.

Anyone played Batman Begins on PS2? Seen the driving missions? Improve those, remove the obvious Burnout plagiarism and we have a perfect Batman game.

The Fear mechanic was a nice idea in that game, which was partially implemented in AA. They need to improve on that and add it somehow into Arkham city.

looks like you haven't played Bioshock yet

Played half of first one and few levels of second. First one was quite good, but the hacking minigame annoyed the hell out of me.

Second one removed that game, was more into it, but it crashed a lot on my laptop, so didn't complete it.

But what that has to do with this thread?

Bioshock is one of the easiest games.
