Haha, I know what you mean. Glad, I'm not the only one who finds Glen strong. JD is my favorite drink as well, but I wanted to give Glen a try.

I went to Ireland a couple of weeks back, and I had Guinness at a couple of places. I've had Guinness before in the US, but this tasted nothing like what I've had before. It's now my favorite beer and if you do go to Ireland, do try out Guinness. They know how to pour it right and it tastes absolutely awesome.

Also, try out Magners Cider. It's pretty good too.

Love the Glen! Really smooth....

Agreed!

try Bowmore 15 as well bro. It's so smooth you can drink neat. just put it in the freezer for like 15 minutes before serving.

I never add soda to my whiskeys/SMs because i think it changes its taste completly (unless of course u like the new taste).

Water is good in case the taste is overbearing, else simply ice to get it to a drinkable temperature.

But the best experience I've had is with SMs that are smooth, neat. they taste amazing on their own.

I only have whisky and beer and here's my pick.

When you're feeling generous: Black Label

When you're feeling a little less generous: Red Label

Even less generous: Teacher's/100 Pipers

When you want to be a cheapskate: Blender's Pride. Best Cheap whisky ever!

Oh and when Dad is paying: Blue Label

The first and the last night, the rest with 1:1 water and tandoor snacks. And chips.

Best whiskey: Southern Comfort.

Closely followed by: The Famous Grouse

Everything else will taste  once you have these two.

Also yeah, I have heard Irish Guinness tastes awesome and way better than Guinness served in another countries. Even Barrack Obama feels Irish Guinness tastes better than the American one :P

I agree with Southern comfort. Not with Famous Grouse. Its similar to Bells. Dont feel the effect (not the nasha!) when drinking, but in the morning can't bare the Hangover. Its my personnel experience. This is problem with cheap whiskys. Thats why I prefer JD or similar to that. The difference is about £5-£7.

Its just brand value.

I like VAT69, it is now my regular/entry level drink of choice. Had it with some friends yest, we were discussing how it is good for it's price range.

What alternatives to it do you guys prefer in that price range (Rs. 1100 for a bottle in Bangalore) ?
