Xbox 360’s Project Natal: Will suffer from Lag, PS3 Wand is more impressive

As 2010 looks to be a huge year for both Microsoft and Sony with their respective motion controllers, Project Natal and the ‘PS3 Wand’ due out, we have an interesting report to bring you, in which one source claims that Project Natal will suffer from lag issues.

As reported from Eurogamer, Jon Burton – Director at Traveller’s Tales made the comments in a recent interview with Develop.

While he states that Project Natal is ‘exceedingly clever’ he thinks that ‘the lag on the input and lack of physical buttons is really going to restrict the kind of games that can be done with it’ – his words, not ours.

If you didn’t know, Traveller’s Tales are the guys behind the LEGO series, while they also worked on Sonic 3D and the Crash Bandicoot franchise.

In another comment which is sure to fuel debate amongst gamers, he also thinks that Sony’s motion controller is ‘more impressive’ than Project Natal.

I agree with him ...natal is very impressive no doubt but abt ps3 wand seems to be more fun than natal .

All these things mean nothing, let both release first. Just because they faced lag "now" when it's in development doesn't mean it's gonna be there when its released.

Natal + burnout paradise = win.

It's hard to tell at this point how these new control systems will shape up in coming months. There are various factors which are gonna influence the end user experience such as accuracy, responsiveness, developer support to build innovative softwares around it. Plus the conventional mindset of users who would tend to hold something in the hand to be able to relate to the action they are causing on the screen and force feedback ofcourse.

From what I have heard on other game forum podcasts, PS3 wand/dildo is amazingly accurate. But I question myself that since this new PS3 tech is based on eyetoy how is it going to workout in a brighter environment.

Buttomline, its too early to declare one as winner or totally write off another.

Next stop...

Thought gaming.. You think, and the characters move. Games without hardware could be boring. :(

c'mon....the toughest move a gamer does today with his controller is to jab the buttons and shake it around....the motion sensing makes the gamer work more....This concept of yours will work hard to create obese gamers all around the world!
