to be honest, my PS3 is back in the UK, after i had installed yellow dog, i didn't really come to install vlc, but i heard that, Fedora played movies very smoothly. but then its been some time and there are a few other apps out. need to do more search.but to be honest, not alot of people have installed Linux yet.......... im surprised. but i will be getting my PS3 soon, so then i can try out different apps and post up a few reviews. so has anyone using the Yellow Dog or any other Linux app?

I am personally more inclined to UBUNTU as this very lightweight and has killer looks. I have created the partition on my PS3 from day one but haven't tried installing UBUNTU or any other linux on it as I don't have a bluetooth or USB keyboard yet with me and it is a prerequisite for os installation, if I am not mistaken.

Check these out.

^^ So you cant install linux without a bluetooth/USB mouse and keyboard? Thats really wierd.

Mouse is not really required. But keyboard is required that too just for installation. This is simply because SIX-AXIS is recognized by XMB. While installing LINUX key board is required coz linux won't recognize the SIX-AXIS until it is installed and required kernel is opened for SIX-AXIS. Once that is done you can do away with your keyboard. But SIX-AXIS can not replace the keyboard considering usability.

makes sense?

had installed yellowdog on ps3 back in england

Just a long shot. Can I use my laptop as keyboard and go ahead with the linux installation? I am not really a desktop person, hence dont want to buy a keyboard just for installation. I am ready for the Linus* from day one with partition and sh*t but its the keyboard :P

Edit: Linux
