Jigsaw
http://windows7themes.net/how-to-use-xbox-...s-7-64-bit.html Haven't followed the guide myself and have heard of motioninjoy on IVG somewhere. So some of us may already be aware of this.
Choron ka raja
I remember using XBOX 360 controller on Win7 RC once, to play FIFA 09. It never required anything to do. Controller driver was inbuilt in Win7, and no calibration or any kind of setup was required.
Jigsaw
^^ oh really? i am using win 7 x64.... but haven't bothered with fiddling around with the 360's controller. Do u simply plug it in via the cable that comes with the play&charge kit??
Kazekage Gaara
^^ oh really?i am using win 7 x64.... but haven't bothered with fiddling around with the 360's controller. Do u simply plug it in via the cable that comes with the play&charge kit?? I think he's talking about the wired controller Coz to use a Wireless controller, you'll need that dongle thingie that plugs into one of the USB ports on the PC so it can detect the wireless controller, but I've heard/read that those things aren't any good. I read they had problems like power consumption, etc., etc., Anyways, you should try a wired controller. That would be a better and a cheaper option
AtheK
wireless controller works flawlessly with the dongle and with wired controller you need not do anything. For PS3 controller you get a driver software, but it is usually buggy and a pain.

Choron ka raja
I had only wired controller till then. No idea if wireless controller will work with play&charge kit. Actually it should. That's because, when I plug in the chrage kit to the controller and try to power on the xbox using the controller, it doesn't work. And after powering on by using the power button, it works as Wired controller (that is charging led doesn't glow, but controller works). Also, if we need the wireless reciever for PC to use wireless controller, that guide is still no use.
Choron ka raja
Tried wireless controller today. It got detected and installed as "Wireless Controller using Play&Charge Kit". But after that, nothing. Didn't got detected in any of the game I tried. Also, its not being shown in Joystick and pther peripherals, but as an unknown device. Its only charging, but when trying to turn it on, it turns on the console alongwith it, and connects itself to console. Will try to figure out how to get it working properly, and post the result. Choron ka raja
please do post results & any problem u solve, it might help me too Sorry dude. No luck with wireless controller yet. Looks like MS designed the drivers only to charge the controller, not use it in Win7. Cuz, if they do, then no one will be buying that stupid dongle. Wired controller works flawlessly though. Currently using wired controller only.

nautical_j
The 360 controller works like a charm... But the ps3 controller ka driver is a pain to nstall and buggy..... There are chances that some of your other drivers will stop responding once you install the ps3 driver.

Cuz, for past few days I have tried nearly everything possible, but that wireless controller just doesn't seem to work.
