I think eventually, Putin would populate the annex areas with pro Russian regime civilians and then hold a referendum of sorts.

Won’t achieve anything.

With millions & millions of displaced Ukrainian refugees & the label of War Criminal with so many civilians dead already.

His sanctions are not going anywhere anytime soon.
Without China’s silent support Russia would have never done this.

China has also increased their defense budgets.

This is just victim blaming tbh.

Yep. Most of the pro-russian people have very weird "just submit to the bully" stance towards Ukraine which is something they would never say for their own country.

With companies like MS, Google, apple et al suspending their operations in Russia, makes me realise the importance of having indigenous high tech firms to compete with those firms.

China is doing the right thing by encouraging local companies to develop their own software ecosystems/oses/gps nav etc.

Too much dependence on American firms is never good.

China already has almost everything in place to cut itself off from the western world.

They silently assured Putin that it will support Russia incase of a western blackout.
They pretty much hold the key to this war right now.

If Putin is even remotely successful in planting his chosen regime in Ukraine then Taiwan is next.

Japan & Australia won’t be able to sh*t without American support & India is as usual a safe player.

the longer this takes the lesser chances of China attacking anyone. Taiwan also houses lots of american troops and equipment. Doubt China is willing to spill American blood anywhere.

It has already taken way longer than predicted.
The Ukrainian civilians are the ones who are the real heroes in all of this.

Also a wake up call for every impowered democracy who is in hopes that US or other allies will take up the fight for them.

India has been proven to be historically always right when it took a neutral stance & didn’t fall for any false hope to take a hardline stance  which it can not afford on its own.
