Hey guys, I have an internet connection which I need to share with my friend using WiFi. I did created an ad-hoc connection and enabled ICS too. But on the other laptop, it says "No internet access" for the connection.

I am able to share all the libraries on my system, just the internet connection is not shared. I also tried manual IP address settings for WiFi adapter, but even that doesn't work.

Help me plz...

dont know about windows 7. but i share it on windows xp. i guess it must be the same. if u want i can try helping u.............

sure mate. its the same procedure. create an ad-hoc network, and let other users connect to it. then go to wifi adapter properties and enable internet connection sharing. done till this step. next is what, no idea. If you can figure out what may be the issue, I would be really thankful to you.

on what connection do you enable ics?????? on the ad-hoc one or the main connection???????

enabled it on ad-hoc connection. But sharing tab is not shown in main connection. Windows Help says I need to get two LAN or High Speed connection in order to enable sharing on the main connection. I guessed the same as an issue but then, can't try to find if its working, unless sharing is enabled for LAN connection too.

I don't know what happened. Just installed the latest updates, and now I got the Sharing tab for my main connection too. I guess it was some setting in Network Sharing, which I forgot that without full updates Internet sharing and a few other such features are disabled in Windows 7. Shared the LAN connection for the WiFi users. Everything is fine now. Thanks for the help, and such a super-fast response. :)

Oh firewall wasn't an issue. Or else, it would have shown up a pop-up message, for the same. Also, while solving the issue myself, I did disabled the firewall too.

Turns out, that stupid setting of disabling few sharing features without all security updates was the culprit. Stupid Microsoft guys. Don't know what kinda security feature is this.
