Maybe it's the simplicity, or the lack of plasma rifles. Perhaps it's the incredibly infections music or the honest-to-goodness cartoon beauty of it all. I think perhaps that it's that incredible blue, a colour which seems to speak directly to the seratonin-producing areas of the hindbrain. The pervading sensation I'm left with, however, as the tinkle of rings and the whoosh of power-ups fades slowly from my consciousness, is that of being reunited with a dear old friend. Reviews for Sonic 4 : Episode 1 IGN - 8/10 Games Radar - 9/10 Sonic the Hedgehog 4 doesn't do very much that's new. Instead, it takes a step back to a time when Sonic was awesome. I would like to have been able to bring a friend along to play as Tails and experience the old Sonic levels in a new way -- in co-op. Otherwise, there's really little to complain about. Also when did this become Episode 1? I thought it was just Sonic 4. They really are pushing their luck if they think they can make lightning strike twice. I was expecting a smattering of 8s across the board fueled mostly by nostalgia and low expectations but it seems like they have have finally done it right. Bring on the demo I guess. Shadoken Posted October 13, 2010 Report Share Posted October 13, 2010 Most of the Devs at Sega are good like AM2(Virtua Fighter) , Overworks(VC) ,Creative Assembly(Total war)..etc ... its only Sonic team and Sega-Usa dev that suck bad....Sonic team made awesome games back in the early 2000 like PSO and Sonic Adventure but ever since Yuji naka left all their games have been horrible... Its not really that surprising , This game was made by Dimps and only supervised by Sonic team.... these guys have been making sonic games on the GBA and the DS .. and those games have been getting solid 8-8.5 all the time ... am guessing they put some extra effort on this one... The core Sonic team are still sucky ..they have been ever since Shadow the hedgehog , none of their games have ever crossed 4-4.5 ... even Sonic unleashed on the wii got around 7 but that was made by Dimps again LOL!!... Sega gets way too much hate despite sonic being their only bad game... most of their good games are niche and sonic is the only mainstream game they have.... Gamespot 6.5/10 (lol...GS was a bit too harsh on this though) GT - 7.5/10 1UP - B lol guess sonic cycle continues...many fans seem to be complaining that this is just like the GBA and DS games rather than the megadrive ones ...will have to try it out myself(damn internet connection doesnt work) ... anyone else tried the demo ? It always made me feel unsure if it was me that was doing the insanely fast stuff or whether I was just pointing in the right direction. The demo level its like dimps version of the first stage from sonic the hedgehog complete with homing attacks, momentum less game play, wonky physics and believe it or not target lock on. Those user made Sonic1 levels on Segas website are way better than these lol.. Edit : It seems even Sonic Colors is getting 9s in its early reviews ... and mostly because it has alot more platforming ...am guessing they finally gave up and are just gonna make it just another platformer...which is much better than what they did for the past 10 years lol..
