Also keep in mind that the latest hi-def movies are sometimes also released in a .mp4 format. A friend of mine has A.C. Ryan Play-On HD!. It's supposed to be better than WD HD TV (first model) but it DOES NOT play .mp4 format files, so he's kinda stuck

Also, wasn't there a WD HDTV II (second iteration) ?

Also, buddy, custom firmware (if working properly) will ALWAYS be a good thing :threatenlumber:

^^^^ xtreamer is 2 slow for his need.... i kno xactly wt he is lukin fr.....

better stick with asus .....

Why do you say xtreamer is slower? it uses the same chipset as Asus (infact, it is slightly faster and also has support for IPTV broadcasts though IPTV is not supported in firmware)..

plus xtreamer has more inputs/outputs and also has internal HDD support..

yeah, thr u go..... has hdd + iptv + more i/o , but same chipset......

all he needs is a very fast n reliable 720p/1080p mkv movie streaming...

It is _not_ same chipset.. it is a different chipset with added functionality and also higher clock speed.. and playing the movies from disk will always be faster/better than streaming.. He can even download them directly onto the player from internet rather than having his PC on..
