PS3 theme creation

 

Okay, I needed to get this out there...PS3 theme creation made easy.

 

1. Download the "Official" ps3 theme tool (click the button on the bottom right): http://www.jp.playstation.com/ps3/dl/tool/..._tool_eula.html

 

2. Extract it to a folder.

 

3. Open a command prompt and navigate to the folder.

 

4. In the folder there will be a sample folder, a GimConv folder, and a p3tcompiler.exe, plus some other files. You need to run the p3tcompiler.exe passing in the sample.xml file to create your theme. So, if you're in the p3tcompiler_v101 folder, you just run:

 

p3tcompiler .\sample1\sample.xml

 

5. This will create a bunch of .gim files and a sample.p3t file in the sample1\ directory. Ignore the .gim files and grab that sample.p3t file. I think the .gim files are some sort of converted image format. Take the sample.p3t file and toss it on a memory stick in the following location:

 

PS3->THEME

 

6. Now take the memory stick to your PS3 and plug it in. Navigate to the theme setting and you will have an option to install. Choose install and you will have your new sample theme.

 

7. To make your own CUSTOM theme, I believe all you will need to do is edit all of the .png files in the "sample" directory, and re-run these steps. I haven't tried that part yet, but it should be easy enough. Good luck, and happy theming. Below are a couple pictures of the sample theme:

if u are use your ps3 to goto that link ,just download it ,it will auto install

if u r dlding it from your pc,then copy it onto a mem stick and put it on the ps3's HDD

Looking for some better PS3 themes, well here they are.

 

Someone had a brilliant idea to take all the ps3 themes people posted, and make one page with them all there. You will find a wide range of themes anywhere from "300" to "Haze" to "Windows vista...???"!!! Thats right, vista has gone PS3. Downloads available after the jump.

Instructions on how to install|

------------------------------------------|

1. Click the jump

2. Find the theme you want to download

3. click the link

4. press "Save"

5. save to a SDCard or a USB Device

6a. make a file in the Device or Card called "PS3"

6b. make a file in the PS3 folder called "THEME" (ALL CAPS REQUIRED)

7. put the .pt3 file into the THEME folder

8. put into your ps3

9. go to themes

10. click install

11. Click the memory card or USB device

12. Install and enjoy ^^
