Bulovski Posted January 28, 2010 Report Share Posted January 28, 2010 Umm - here's the problem. Sony's year on year is not good. Their revenue grew year on year from 4.9% 10.5%, 6.9% till 2007-08. In 2008-09 their yoy revenue decline was -12.9%. That's their worst yoy performance in years. Anything will seem like a positive after that year. Here's some divisional numbers on Revenue / OP / OP Margin, Operating Return on Assets from last year Electronics - 5,032 / -168 / -3.06 / -4.87 Game - 985 / -58 / -5.55 / -9.27 Pictures - 717 / +30 / +4.17 / +3.30 Some other divisions and stuff which I am not posting here. The point I am trying to make is that Sony corporate's quarterly operating profit is not an indicator of their game business or how much it will benefit. Good news for Sony: Read Here In the quarter, the company sold about 6.5 million PS3 hardware units, up from about 4.5 million units in the prior-year quarter. The company also sold about 2.1 million PS2 units and around 4.2 PSP units in the quarter. These are comparable with year-ago quarter PS2 and PSP sales of 2.5 million and 5.1 million, respectively.
