Lego Harry Potter: Years 1–4 is an upcoming video game in the Lego video game franchise, developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros. The game is based on the Lego Harry Potter line and its storyline will cover the first four books of the Harry Potter series: Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire.

Lego Harry Potter's gameplay is similar to that of previous Lego games, with an emphasis on collecting. Casting spells is an integral part of the gameplay; few are available from the start, but more are unlocked as the player progresses. The wingardium leviosa spell, which almost all characters can use, enables the player to lift and arrange Lego bricks. Potion-making is another integral feature; potions can help the player complete levels or, if created incorrectly, have adverse side effects such as turning the player into a frog. Over 100 characters are playable, including Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, Hermione Granger, Albus Dumbledore, Professor Quirrell, and Fang.

havent played any LEGO game before but i always wanted a Harry potter game having more than one year's story in it and independent of the movie tie in.

I am a bit skeptical regarding the LEGO bit, but every thing else sure as hell looks tasty for a HP fan. Story straight out from the books, humor, spells, scenarios etc.

Definitely on the watch list for me.

I have a question to others, to those who have played LEGO games, how exactly is the gameplay ? i mean does the LEGO bit in them differ the experience in any way from the standard game play ?

also, IGN's first look

sounds great !!

Think linear brawlers like Final Fight or Streets of Rage, although obviously with more 3D elements like platforming and sometimes even shooting.

The LEGOs themselves usually come in the form of puzzle-solving, but you never actually "build" something from scratch per-se (if that makes any sense).

ooh so the game play is the standard as in 3rd person control. that is great news. I was not sure what to expect as there was big emphasis on the LEGO part.

As long as the characters and story are true to the book and great gameplay is there i am willing to over look the lego-ish look !!

Thanks keez.
